Windows Vista

Postby icebreaker » Wed Mar 07, 2007 6:31 pm

Well I put on Vista Business today...

What an experience... 8.xgb C Drive partition and not even enough space to fit 2007 Enterprise...

Vist was approx 6.22gb, and Office was 1.7gb but I only had 1.6gb...

For some reason I wasn't able to modify the partition (D drive) which mean I had to start again and delete the partition and make the drive 1 drive not 2.

Now I dunno how other peoples have found Vista. But personally it has been extremely frustrating.

I'm using a Dell Inspiron 8600 512mb ram, 128mb GeForce 5650, 40gb Drive.

It seems to handle it fairly well... Noticing the missing hard drive space I must say... I'm having to transfer so much data to my desktop to free up some space.

Anyway, just wonder what other people think, and also if anyone agrees with me, and that Windows is now the closest to a Mac it has ever been...

Yep, install Vista, fuck around with drivers that dont work for a couple of hours and end up with a computer system that runs games and other "push the limits" type software at half the speed it used to run at on XP!

Way to fucken go MS!

Mind you, it does have that nice "aero" bling.

I think I'll wait for Vista 2.0

I am sort of waiting for the air to clear on vista and i didnt realize it needed that much space.

I am working on the theory that you will be needing new hardware not long after you install it.....it goes with microsoft releases that and a million patches.
If I rode my bike at the speed of light, what would happen when I switched on its headlights?

Well I just installed Photoshop and it's fine.

My notebook is 3 years old and it is working fine.. Apart from only a 1.4ghz centrino (2.2-2.4ghz P4) and 512mb of ram, thus far it is working accepably.

As for waiting for the air to clear... I am in the IT industry so I don't have much choice but to install it, learn what I can before I have to support it... Already have a Sony notebook on back order for a customer that will be Vista so I have to get prepared... Not looking forward to having to support this OS over the phone I must say...

I upgraded to XP when my last computer got hit by lightning...that is about as extreme as it will need to be for me to move to Vista.

Nerds are those who in vain tries to make things work, and try to keep them working.

Ubuntu simply works! No nursing around

Gates is getting God to do forced installs of XP? fark, no wonder he was running laps around the US government and their monopoly rulings. If you can buy the big man, you can do anything!!

oh as for vista, im tempted by the eye candy, but im not *THAT* tempted.
