Racism worries a bit over the top perhaps? (RANT)

Postby mick_dundee » Fri Nov 10, 2006 7:06 pm

<rant>Seesm according to today's papers that racism is the number one target for offenders at the Ashes this year. This no longer means we can you whinging pommy bastards "pommy bastards". Seems it ok to call you a bastard or in Ronster's case his preferred C worrd, but we can't call you a pom... so, thanks to Cricket Australia we no longer call you pommy bastards poms, we're now going to cal you english bastards of other extraction other than Australian (or something like that I guess).

So Ronster, if you read this you can no longer sign off as PC as we are longer allowed to call you the p word, you'll now have to sign off as EC or something like that, far canal.. the wrld has lost the plot, tis sad when we can't call a pom a pom, oops an englishman a pom I guess that should be.. </rant>
A good mate will bail you out of jail, a true mate will be sitting in the cell next to you saying "Damn, we fucked up!!!"

Does this mean the balmy army won't be able to chant "you're all a bunch of convicts". If not I think I'll miss the pommy bastards. :D

Wasn't the original spelling "Pome", and was an acronym for Prisinor Of Mother England? In which case only English people in Her Majasties custody and are fatherless could be considered a Pommy bastard!

This whole argument is bulshit! I am a so-called "Pommy Bastards" i have never ever been offended by this, but some others make the complaint and then it hey presto.

There are lots of regions that have nicknames most don't bother anyone except the "minority" my personal opinion the world has gone nuts. No x-mas because some religions don't belive in it (you try telling that to a kid) books/songs are censored. What BULLSHIT :!:

Doh now i have turned into a "Whinging Pommy Bastard"

YOUR THE SAME BLOODY RACE YOU IDIOTS!!!!

FFS !!!

Back when I was young we had REAL racism... where there was actually a difference in RACE!~(#@*&$#_) None of this racism that you have these days, thats not racism, that competitive spirits between two countries of the SAME race and the same commonwealth...
The world is round. It has no point.

Nope. The etymology of the word is not certain, but the expression predates our convict beginnings. The POME / POHM explanation is just a very prevalent urban legend.

More info here (if anyone's interested).
