On one of the morning shows a little while ago they had a scientist that studys the globel warming for a job"payed off the goverment" against a "greenie" ,he made a total FOOL out of the greenie.anyhow he stated that globle warming started around the end of world war 2 and it peeked in the mid 70's + he said that we have spent around 90 million (from memory)dollars trying to prove that carbon has done this with not 1 result.

do yourself a favour, go to India and China, which BTW is keeping our economy afloat, and tell them you want them to provide you with some climate change insurance..they will tell you to get the fucking stars out of your eyes and grow up..they are trying to lift their standard of living from abject poverty to somewhat of an acceptable lifetstyle for their people, which will requiremanufacturing and development of their industry, thus emmisions..

also, you cannot put ppl into the 2 baskets of Skeptic and Non-Skeptics..this is common practice amongst the lefties to scare the fuck out of people by labelling them somehow accountable for climate change by being a Skeptic..We all want to use less power and be kinder to the environment, there a no 2 groups in which to distinguish people, that is all BS..

hows this for insurance, you and Bob Brown can go and live in a cave in Tassie with Gillard..thats bound to be enough insurance to save the world..

Aree you truly Naive enough to believe that in 100 years the UN is going to be standing around going, "Thank Fuk Australia started the insurance against climate change in 2012, they have saved mankind from certain extinction"...yeah, nah...

Cmon hoffy even you are more intelligent than that, and I know this. China flooded a "small" river that displaced more people than that live in Australia and just for good measure copied the formwork of the two biggest suppliers in the worlds at the same time as saying up yours and don't worry about the deaths when we pour the dam, and yes you don' stop pouring concrete just because you fall into it.

What figures are you using to state such "do yourself a favour, go to India and China, which BTW is keeping our economy afloat, and tell them you want them to provide you with some climate change insurance..they will tell you to get the fucking stars out of your eyes and grow up..they are trying to lift their standard of living from abject poverty to" do yourself a favour and don't believe the hype, better still go there and see the reality and look up the facts it amazing the truth is out there

If any of you are old enough to remember 1998, 1999 and then 2000 you will see a comomon thread here. The Y2K Bug was a farce and so is this global warming, or hang on let me change that to something more green.....................climate change. FFS climates have been changing BIG TIME every time a volcano decides to spew out its carbon monoxide and sulphur dioxide and every other nasty. FFS wake up !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the majority of voters see right through all of this, JG would have to be the dumbest sneaky PM we have seen in modern times. Bring on the election and no more protest votes to the bumbling incompetent independents.

All TA has to do is not to mention cakes with icing and he will win with a clear majority.

some good points raised by you guys, but dont confuse the meanings of Weather with Climate.
and the fact that climate change is occuring is not political, only the 'solution' of the carbon tax is.

there are a few reasons that make sense to me, as to why ppl dont want to believe climate change:
1. is that science hasnt produced the answers we want. we expect science to solve the problem and not put the onus back onto ppls behaviour. we'd all just rather have a device to slap onto the car engine and fix everything. we like our lifestyles and dont want to change.
2. the cause is invisible to us non-scientists, there isnt one machine/industry/country thats doing it. Its all of us.
3. we wont experience the benefit anytime soon, if at all, from when we take action.
4. the signals indicating that we should take action, at the moment are weak.

and man, that video doesnt sound right. admittedly i didnt watch the whole thing just yet cos its already past my bedtime... :)
..but he spouts big and small numbers as if hes trying to show a small amount of a molecule doesnt matter, without clarifying what that small change can do. starts to feel like trying to sell me an abswing or some ginsu knives.
a drastic opposing example, would be to look at the radioactive nuclei emitted by the japanese reactors. its so much lower in concentration than co2 but has a pretty major effect.
i looked quickly at just a couple of his references, but he seems to just be quoting himself? thats a bit weird.

and as unpopular as the carbon tax is, if it drives the price of stuff up, won't it give people (who arent already environmentally aware like us good motorcycling folk :) ) a financial incentive to cut back/consume less/shift to cleaner alternatives?

No it won't as the polluters just simply pass on the price, yes we might look to consume less, but as there are not as yet credible alternatives we are not changing how we produce power or manufacture which is the problem to more environmentally friendly alternatives. As a side note they are the big carbon contributors so is targeting the wrong people

The NSW government made everyone stop using their hoses with the water restrictions, the problem is now we don't consume enough water to generate enough money to pay for the services. What they should have done first was to improve their recycling programs rather than hit everyone for consumption.

How many billion years old is the earth? and we have what 200 years of sure fire data if that?
How do you spot a trend with so little data.
Its a political ruse. Pure and simple.
Use it to raise tax, or to nail the opposition. Perfect.
I hope whoever came up with is getting paid royalties.

Pfft global warming. Getting colder every year in Moree. Didn't even hit 40 this summer. Lucky if we even hit 38. If this "global warming" keeps going it'll be too cold for the cotton industry soon.
