Sheesh - I'm surprised anyone would bother passing on this garbage. And it is garbage.

If you read the Bible closely enough (and literally enough) there are a variety of abhorrent practices that it apparently endorses (eg keeping of slaves, sex with slaves, rape of women, genocide) and other seeminly harmless practices that it forbids (eg shaving facial hair, wearing of clothes made from two kinds of fabric, etc).

People come up with these idiotic out-of-context literal readings from the Koran in an attempt to try and marginalise Muslims, but don't seem to worry about the passages in the Bible that are at odds with our modern way of life if you apply the same out-of-context reading. If you want to say that Muslims are incapable of being patriots, you'd also have to say that good Christians are a bunch of bearded rapists intent on genocide (and much more). Both are equally invalid.

Where is the acknowledgement of the Koran's teaching that a good Muslim honours the laws of the nation he is in? Where is the acknowledgement that the Koran includes 9 of the 10 commandments in the bible (thou shalt not kill, commit adultery, steal, bear false witness, etc) and the only one it leaves out is the fourth commandment - keeping the Sabbath a holy day (which all of us who go for a ride up the Black Spur on a Sunday are breaking anyway)???

And one final point - the US and Australian (thankfully) have a number of differences between them, including the completely different nature of their constitutions. So the stuff in that rant about the US constitution has zero relevance in this country.

Jehovah's witnesses wont pledge allegiance to this country, either, and neither will serve in the armed forces.

I taught a guy to drive who was Jehovahs and he joined the Navy as a electronic warfare linguist- the Navy were delaying his entry by months and months, probably because of his beliefs.....
Got a neighbour who is JW too, and he is pretty cool- amateur photographer- took the bike pictures in my yellowpages ad. Will have to ask him what he thinks of joining the forces. :)

Agreed.

But then so many people would have trouble understanding that they really are responsible for their own lives. Their Imaginary Friends work in mysterious ways...

Err.....sorry guys n gals......I have broken the "No Politics and No Religion Rule". Sorry won't do it again. However I would like to clarify a few issues.

I posted this, more to encourage someone with a more intimate knowledge of the Koran, in order to find out how much of this american brainwashing was contained within it. I have a small knowledge, from past studies, but not what I would call an intimate knowledge. It was certainly not meant to spark any anti-Muslim sentiment, nor to anger anyone. Which it appears it has.

I have no fears or grudges against ANY, race, religion, or culture! But I am interested in how, the people who live in Australia must be struggling with the Anti-Muslim attitudes that appear to be infiltrating into out culture.

So once again apologies for posting a religious/political thread, and If the moderators would be so kind as to lock it, then we can alll get on with life.

To Felix. Great to see you reply with your best attempt at an intelligent comment. Perhaps you might like to give people the benefit of the doubt before you criticise, as my post was initiated with the best of intentions.

Once again apologies to those who I may have offended, apart from Felix, who can go fuck himself

There are really only two questions in life. 1.Which way do i go? 2.What is the lap record?

Im not saying its the be all and end all, but half the problems people (of any race or gender) face are ones they bring upon themselves.

Ergo my gpx having tuning problems when i decided to replace all the worn out bits in my carby's .
