Approximately the same at Suncorp and they normally get 65000+ at Sydney, though Sydney can take 80,000.

The point I think people are missing it is a state game between NSW and QLD. You don't play the ashes in New Zealand, fucking stupid

True mate,,, but the game needs to expand. and im a queenslander living in shithole melbourne   and a roma boy at that!!! but with the storm goin well down here, they do need to get the game out here more.
Myself, i do think its a good idea..... but having said that, i understand the NSW peeps dont like it, from the backlash down here since... seems melbourne is like a home game for QLD, as most vic's dont like roaches... so fair enough. but it is a great game that needs to be promoted

I disagree, this is purely about the coin and nothing else. The NRL did a deal with Etihad short and simple.

I saw an interview with Paul Gallen who said it hardly made the news until the day of the game in VIC, was poorly promoted and if you weren't a follower of the game very few new it was on which all suggests it had nothing to do about promoting the game but about the coin

The AFL is trying to expand into Western Sydney but they aren't taking the Grand final out of Melbourne even though they would get more money for it

Does paul live here??? i do, and weve known for months thats it on, as did everyone else... friends booked their seat months ago.
And yes it is about money, what isnt??? but it still needs to be promoted here... im a queenslander down here, and i think its a good thing... i do believe its still bad feelings with NSW thinking they have lost a home ground game advantage. and yes they sure as hell need it...................

The AFL would be stupid to take the grand final out of Melbourne as no other state would pull that sort of crowd.

80 000 at a home an away game. Rugby are lucky to get 20 000 to a top of the table NRL game.

NSW and QLD stadiums couldn't cater for those numbers and those in Sydney couldn't care less about the AFL.

Leave it in the sporting capital of the world!

True stu, AFl grand final should be played here, and no, i dont follow it... and i dont think there is any ground like the MCG for that???

Its like apple and oranges, same, same but different.
Leauge in QLDand NSW is different, and State of orgin is different again. it brings its own followers.
Dont know what each ground holds, but at orgin time they fill the SFS and the old lang park.
My mate from work went on wed night and said it was full and one of the best crouds he has seen... but he was goin for QLD, if he didnt i would kick him off his 10 next time out

Storm aren't going well, they are losing up to $5million a year. VIC don't understand or follow the origin, if you want to promote the game do what the AFL are doing and give some coin to the juniors. An AFL club on the Northern Beaches of Sydney got a $250k grant for a new club house which isn't exactly AFL heartland. At Rouse Hill they have had open days, coaching clinics, advertising etc for years prior to GWS arriving and guess what is growing out Western Sydney way. Each club has to come up with over $2500 each week to pay the referees as they don't want "ring in", the AFL hand out a lot of cash to help the local footy clubs. That is how you promote it, you don't promote it by taking one of the biggest games of the year to another state.

We did know for months and people have been complaining for months. This was a complete failure as the only two things that have dominated the paper re the game were the referee calls and the controversy that it was played in VIC, hardly what I would call great promotion
