laptop memory *IS* more expensive without question.
I just bought 1 gig of DDR pc memory for $95 & 1 Gb of DDR2 for $130 less than a fortnight ago.

RAM causing conflict?

Our Ram used to cause conflict all the time. We got him a new Ewe to keep him busy and that seemed to fix it.

Update: it may not have been the RAM after all...my laptop battery died completely this morning (after being noticeably sluggish for a few weeks), so I raced over to get a new one (thanks Red Dave 
) and voila, no more crashes happening!
