any one knows the differences between a tube sub and the normal box shaped sub??

apart from the sharps?

Well the box will have more sharps mate, tubes dont have corners :roll:

One is box shaped, the other is tube shaped.

Tubes can be good because they are light weight and very rigid - the sides don't flex. Boxes can be made rigid but they require lots of internal bracing and end up being very heavy.

Not completely true.... A well constructed tube sub can be better than a shitty boxed sub...

But in general it is true...

There are many flavours of boxed subs, enclosed, open, vented, unvented, 12, 14, 18".... each one has its own characteristics in sound...

well its horses for courses.

it depends what u wanna do with the subs.

i've seen tube subs that are better than some boxed subs. They are not bad. Also it depends what sort of music u listen to. Subs (tube/boxed/free air) react differntly to different music.

some people might disagree but its my 2c.

May as well just buy a decent set of 3ways, otherwise you only ever hear the bass and don't appreciate the other parts of the composition.

agreed.
a pair of 6inch splits on the front and a 10inch sub in the boot will usually be plenty for most cars.

most 4 channel amps will allow this set up, buy bridging two channels for the sub

My amp splits either 4 channel, bridged to 2 channel or bridged to 3 channel. 3 channels allow stereo splits and a sub. I tend to run 4 channels, front 2 have 3 way splits, back 2 have crossovers running a 1" tweeters, a 4" mid and an 8" sub each. Gives a good balanced sound, and the 8" subs have quick enough responce for metal tracks with double kicks.
