One of those days..

Postby ttc » Sun Jul 16, 2006 6:11 pm

It all started this morning when i checked the tyre pressures on my bike and decided they were a little low, so I thought I'd go to Bunnings (500m away) and buy a plug in air compressor to do my tyres as it's pain using the 12volt one.
On the way there I think I'll buy an extension lead, and some clips, and move the antenna cable off the floor to along the roof. Easy I think.

Bunnings didn't have any non 12volt air compressors that I could carry home, they didn't have any white antenna leads either.

Ok I'll walk to Repco on the corner of Kingston and Compton Roads. On the way there I stopped at a boating shop they had nothing either.

Repco had nothing.

So I decided to walk to Supercheap on the corner of Logan and Compton roads. They had nothing.

So I walked along Logan road to Big W, there I got the white antenna cable and clips ($1.40 cheaper than bunnings too!) But they had no compressors.

Next door to bunnings, no compressors, but they have a cheap tin of mistinted paint.. hmm i think, I'll repaint the toilet downstairs.. so I buy the paint, a cheap and nasty roller set with a foil tray, and a wooden toilet seat, and walk all the way home with it.

I fix the antenna cable, all good there, time to paint.

The paint set came with a drop sheet, so i put that down, put paint in, start to paint. All the fluff comes off the roller onto the wall. Heaps of it and it's orange.. damm.. and the drop sheet is sticking to my feet, so I'm dragging it around.

I decide to go back to the bunnings that's near me and get a good roller. I do that, get home, it's too big for the tray, i tried bending the cheap foil tray but it still wouldn't fit.

So i clean and pack up, then decide to put the new toilet seat on. It doesn't fit, it's too short. So i put it in my backpack (too big so tied in with occy straps) go back to the bunnings i got it from, change it for one that does fit and buy a bigger tray for the roller.

Came home, finished painting the toilet and put the new seat on.

I think I can raise you on that one, after last friday.
I packed up my motorcycle trailer with lotsa tools, including an air compressor and three solar chargers I wanted to move to my Ipswich office to keep the 3 bike batteries charged coz they don't run all the time. Packing took about an hour (I had a list) and the reason I was going was to fix an ex-clients GN250, cheaper than a mechanic would. It needed carby work coz it was leaking fuel out of the overflow- unusual for a bike with 14000km on it, or at least I thought. I only planned charging the guy around $30-50 to strip the carb down, blow out all the orifices, and set the float height and mixture etc.
Anywho I got down there. One of the $30 solar chargers was smashed, my compressor had the water trap snapped off,(broke the regulator off- cheap alloy shit)and to top it all off, the compressor had leaned against one of the inner mudguards of the trailer- it pushed the guard against the tyre, and the 100km, 100km/h ride wore an impressive hole in the guard and wore a section of the tyre too. Repairs to all the above FAR outweighed what I planned to make fixing old mates GN...
I knew that I didn't have much carb cleaner with me- ran out before I got anything inside the carby clean- used some brake cleaner instead, then ran out of that too. Bodgied the compressor which constantly leaked but managed to get some air to blow out the passages of the carb. :)
Carb however had been butchered in the past (needed an emulsion tube, o-ring for needle and seat and needle as well as pilot jet that was chewed up too. ) and even the body of the carb was banged up where someone had jammed the emulsion tube into the body. Worst part is local Suzuki dealer didn't have parts- so due in tomorrow- meaning a 200km trip to reassemble the carb and bike. I reckon I am well over $200 in the hole on this job...after I have been paid by him, and not even in time- repairs to my goods, and extra fuel too....phew!

crap day for me today aswell

go for a run with another group - starts crap day, slow pace on my behalf and drizzle for first few hours

then it clears and we get some good dry road - mt mee

thinking thank god i stuck with it got a bit of a good ride in

then 30mins from home my clutch cable snaps and i have to go along the only two road with lights all day in this last stretch

so i'm doing back streets trying to avoid lights had to stop once for one set
and some of you would know how hard it can be taking off up a hill with no clutch :)

so get home think no worries clutch cable is an easy fix so taking bike out back to start looking at the carby issue i have when i DROP THE FARKER

and damage the tail and not just one peice but somehow managed to damage all the tabs from the whole 3 peices :(

thats my shit day...

Had a wonderful morning to make up for my nice easy weekend.

Into garage at 4am to go to work, turn key, no headlight damn. No start, damn. Battery charged ok, starter button/switch farked. 1 hour 40 mins later I give up. The whole clip-on is still hanging off the bike, and the switch is still farked. Work is pissed with me, a replacement switch means whole new switch gear, $120. Bike also needs cam chain tensioner and possible cam chain ++++

I might just go back to bed

Whenever you feel bad think of me going down stairs to stare at my bent bike and contemplate 6 months with no licence.

It wont seem so bad after that

OR if you are me, just imagine if I was as bent as the bike 8)
