I think Great Wall can be hit and miss, with lots never having an issue and others going through extreme difficulty with them. One in my family's fleet is a diesel ute. The guys who drive it reckon it's one of the best utes they have ever had on the fleet. Pulls more weight, drive well and is comfy????? Then again, other have lots of niggly problems, so perhaps they are were the Koreans were ten years ago.

If looking at Vitara, go a V6 if you can manage one in your price range. They drive smoother than the 4, It's a really nice motor. Silky smooth and has a nice peaky top end to play with...... :)

Is that the model with the aspestos in the bonnet lining?
Among other issues.

............, current Commodore V8's can seize the drivetrains,

rubbish....
have had 3 of them myself, have 30+ guys in the car club with them
HSVs Caprices, SSs, SSv's, ex police cars...
problems with drivetrains? = zilch zero nada none on any of them

the only problem that seems to rear its head on current V8 Commodores
is front strut bearings only last 50-60,000km

and rear tyre wear...well a good rate is 40,000 km

Hi mate,i rekon a xr6 turbo for value ,the ba is worth not to much at the moment. With a few mods you can get the best out of this car with not to much money spent!! :kuda:

Early VE's did it and the G8 yank version had a few issues. Along the lines of 'misaligned center support bearing assembly or the prop shaft mounting to the differential yoke.'

Hope you like changing the diff bushings ALOT .

Great car, lots of add on and nice interior but the one reason I steered away from them is the diff bushes and seals destroy themselves to quickly and you need to drop the diff to change them.

Otherwise your right they would be my pick

Bought the bride a Mini Cooper S a few years back (Happy wife happy life) she still has it and loves it. It goes like the clappers but sitting in a cage, no matter how quick and sporty is just not the same as giving any bike a good kick in the guts and squirt through the twisties. 8)
