Felix i will go with optus tech support is shit but there prices are okay....brief rant....every time it rains or blows a steady northeaster at over 20 knots my modem shits itself i think this is self explanatory somebody who owns and hires the copper to me needs to check it out but no they send 55 line filters and tell me to make a daisy chain...and use their poxy modem...rant ended.

I use a netgear router anyway and it dies whenever there is rain or wind theirs hangs on longer in bad conditions but the netgear works fine 90percent of the time.

Gos go for optus dsl for the price its great and it sounds like you need 5 gig of something, personally i need 20.
If I rode my bike at the speed of light, what would happen when I switched on its headlights?

hmmm well I will teach you how to easily exceed your download limit sometime soon Gos ;)

I only have 45 mins or so until my line is back to full speed..... I normally wait until the last couple of days of the monthly billing cycle before going crazy..... 28Gb in about 2 - 3days ;)

I hit 32Gb before being shaped on my 20GB plan......

oh and if you are ever looking for any hardware, check http://www.staticice.com.au and have a look at some of the bargains there!

I am with AAnet

I cant be bothered with ADSL2 because most places I want to download from dont have connections that fast... so anything above 1500 is a waste.....

Anyways, I am on a $49.95 plan.. for that it is 1500/256 and I get 14Gb a month... They only count whichever data stream is bigger, up or downloads.... so if you download 13Gb, and upload 12.... they only count the 13Gb you downloaded... and data between 1AM and 8AM is only counted at 50%.... so great if you are downloading movies and stuff.... Realistically you can get about 20gb of downloads for the 14Gb plan if you do it well....... Its a great plan for using things like bittorrent and stuff...

They have bigger and smaller plans too...
http://www.aanet.com.au/Plan_12.html

The service is ok... I reccommend them to people who dont need to have their hands held....

If you decide to use these guys.... PM me because I get a discount if I recommend someone :)
The world is round. It has no point.

When your provider offers it to you for $10 a month less than your ADSL plan, you don't argue the toss ;)

I'm on 20Gb down - unlimited upload ($69/Mth) cable from Optus and guess what..........without warning

the b'stards today suspended my service for UPLOADING too much ??

apparently "unlimited" means "within reason" and when I asked what they considered to be reasonable I was told "Oh! we don't put a figure on it"
WTF are they smokin' ?
Their usage meter only shows download so HTF do you keep tabs on it ?

Blamed me non existent 12 year old and they switched me back on within 15 mins
I don't suffer from insanity; I enjoy every minute of it.
