eventfull weekend away 4 wheel driving....

Postby kellz » Mon May 08, 2006 3:47 pm

why didn't i just take the bike?

OK well no snow in jindy but a fair few cars coming back from kosioco with snow on them.

anyway leave from Sydney at 7:20 pm and arrive at the unit at 12:05 so a record time if you ask me.

anyway settle in have something to drink, the bottle of red left from the last trip, and sleep ready for a big day on Saturday.

well we start off with breaky at a nice cafe at nuggets shopping center, then start shopping for my birthday present, yes i know its a week or so after my birthday, but still havent found a decent pressie for Justin to get for me.

after spending all morning shopping we head off and go exploring, hind sight says we should of stayed shopping.

we go to the rangers hut at Kosciusko way, and then head back didn't feel like paying $18 to drive a 4wd on sealed roads when some nice dirt roads and 4wd tracks.

down Barry way we head. stop off at a nice look out and check out the road we are about to go down, a nice series of 15 and 25km hair pins. with no armco and that are off camber are exciting to say the least but even more fun when the car starts 4wd drifting.

well we make it down in one place, making the most of the abilities of the car, then the exciting bit comes, a river crossing, something about me doubting it should of rung alarm bells, but no i trusted Justin so we cross, get out inspect the car all seems OK, so Justin goes back and does it again to get some shots, then we follow a nice fire trail, up this lovely 5 meter climb, hear a nice bang, yep you guessed it

snapped the shock, well not really snapped as that should mean it was completely disassembled, well lets say the rear left came off the ground at such a height that it let the shock open up and then when we came back to earth its didn't join back and bent in half wedging itself between the brake caliper and axel.

so now we had to climb back up Barry way along Jacobs creek with only 1 shock and the excitement of a top speed of 30km on the dirt road.

took about 3 hours to get home, by this time i was quite pissed off and tired, so to the bottlo for the stocking up of alcohol and then the grocery store for food.

well this morning we started our journey home and made it back in one piece with no more issues from the stuffed shock..

but wow the roads are great and lets say i saw 2 cops the whole weekend and 3 bikes, and lots and lots of nice corners just asking me to go down and ride them...

Glad it was you and not me. Atleast you made it home and the Yowie didn't eat you. Actually did you know the Yowie is a close relative of Mina's?

To be honest the Yowie is a little better looking than Mina and it has slightly less NODES
