Victorians - anyone watch the news?

Wed Nov 18, 2009 8:11 pm

Hey Vic members
I was just wondering if there was anything on your news about a crash on the Western ring road this morning?

It was heading east / north-east, between the Tullamarine Airport and the Hume Fwy and involved a truck rear-ending a car.
I'm just trying to find out if there have been any reports, if the car driver survived, if there is any extra info, etc.
Thanks for any help

Cath

heard nothing on the radio (traffic repoort) while driving around today
nothing on either newspaper sites here
the only mention is from the Police Media. ( http://www.vicpolicenews.com.au/trafficalerts.html ) brief report shows -

09:45am Collision at the middle lane of the Western Ring Road near Syndey Road, Fawkner (about 100 metres before the offramp Eastbound). Three trucks and a car were involved. Traffic was able to move around the scene - MFB and VicRoads at the scene.

Thanks Smitty.
I would expect there to be more info or a comment if it was a fatality, so that's good news.

Thanks huge amounts mate. That's really made my day heaps better!

Thanks again mate. I'm happy to hear that.

It looked really horrible. We were right beside the car as it happened, but couldn't pull over anywhere safe to offer help (there were plenty of other people around to help, otherwise we would've just pulled over in an unsafe spot). And as our lane was moving much faster, I didn't see how it ended - I just saw the back of the car get hit by the truck, the windows explode and then the front of the car start crushing as the truck pushed the car into the truck in front. So I didn't know if the truck managed to stop in time, before the cabin of the car was affected. I felt sick for the next two hours, so thanks for looking that up - I'm sure it would've been mentioned if it was serious or a fatality, so I'm glad.

Cath, you should ring Vic police and make report.
