Reason i haven't been on (for those that give a fark)

As the subject says, for those that give a fark.

Yes it has been a while since I have been on the site (nearly 12 months in actual fact) Since that time a few major things have happened in my life.

I have sold my bike and am now without a ride (for now) part of this reason was I wasn't riding it due to work and home life commitments.

The main reason and the reason for my absenteeism and sale of my bike (for those who don't know) is.

In June last year, my younger brother came off his bike and as result is now in a wheel chair. He shattered his t10 vertebrae (I think, it's last one between the t and l vertebrae) He went through a 8 hour operation where they cut him open down his full side and had to remove all his internal organs to operate, as the main damage was on the inside. He had to have a similar op a couple of months later, as the hospital farked up.
Daniel is only 24 years old and as much as it has farked me up, it has farked him up more. (fark me, after nearly twelve months, I have tears in my eyes typing this)

I have 4 brothers that all ride and 3 out of the four have farked themselves up in the last couple of years. 1. Shattered his leg/ knee, had a major op and was off work for nearly 10 months. 2. Came off his bike, was airlifted to hospital, presumed dead, but just farked himself up bad and then there is Dan.
In saying all of this, they all ride road bikes, but have farked themselves up on dirt bikes (so don't ride dirt bikes )
I know people who ride don't like to hear these types of stories and I couldn't type this before. But this is the reason I haven't been around. Just a heads up to my position....

All I can say is be safe people and YES, I will ride again. (Probably a little more sedate than before)

I don't have the Kwakka any more, but the folks here are a great bunch who offer plenty of support, and this is the reason I hang around and still post.

Best wishes to your brother on his recovery Rob. Dirt bikes are a bloody evil thing. I broke 14 bones in one hit on on of them things!!! Good to see you down there, by the time I realised you were there on the weekend, you'd gone again!

HI Rob its a shame that 3/4 of your brothers have been so badly affected by MX accidents... its a bloody dangerous sport / activity I honestly dont know what I would do in your situation

Accidents are part and parcel when riding bikes and i'm sorry to hear about your brothers. Having never known anyone who's gone through something quite as serious, i can't really say anything except i hope they go on to lead normal lives.

KSRC has always attracted a certain type of rider. Every ride i've been on in the 3+ years i've been a member, the vast majority of riders have been sensible enough to understand their surroundings, their limitations and their fellow riders. Dickheads have quickly realised that this is not a place for them and have, of their own accord, gone their own way. Yes, we've had our serious incidents (several "Colonel Ponti's secret recipe Dinner Box's", the great Putty Rd BBQ, Phil V Skippy etc) but been lukily enough to all still be here.

I understand and respect the dangers... But i ride cause i love it.

Stick around Rob, I don't care you don't have a bike, and i'm looking forward to stealing (and replacing) another beer from you at the GP...

Hi, i haven't spoken 2 u before, but i do know how you feel - i currently hav a mate in the spinal ward in melb - he came off at winton last year racing. He is really really badly banged up and has 2 young kids.

Accidents definately make you question everything in your life and put things in perspective.
What ever you choose to do you know there are people always up for a chat.

I don't know you but I am so sorry to hear about your brothers.

You are a brave man to ride again after so much bike related tragedy in the family. I was following someone who had a high speed bingle with a car about a month ago, and it REALLY shook me up. It is a very traumatic thing.
