When selling a car in SA are you required to provide a RWC and how do they handle change of rego if the buyer (me) is from out of state? Ideally, if I bought it, I'd like to fly down, drive home...

You're kidding aren't you? Have you ever been to SA mate? RWC????? Over here, you can drive around in whatever piece of shit you want. Blows smoke? No problems. Full of rust? No worries. No brakes and only first gear? That's ok to.
When a vehicle is sold over here, the old owner signs the back of the registration form to say they've sold the vehicle to you.... Doesn't get much easier than that.

Fark! I'm staying away from SA then...
Never know a semi might go e-braking towards me again and this time he might not have brakes!
Well it's not his fault, there's no regulation on that!

well what about that truck up on the f3 a year or two ago that took out 20 or so cars? apparently tests afterwards indicated two sets of the 14 brakes worked.

Only once for a job interview, flew in and flew out the next day...
Didn't realise it was that - lax. So where would I stand in the eyes of John
Q Law (SA) if I bought said car and drove it back?

As long as it's registered and not stolen you wont have any problems.

You will probably find that getting it rego'ed in Qld is more of a headache than doing a rego transfer in SA. Thats just a bit of paper to show you are now the new owner.......but establishing a new rego means a full inspection etc etc, so be careful if you do buy a shitbox, it may cost a bomb to fix back home.....

Yep, well it is a car from...before I was born, and there is usually not very many come up for sale. Quite possibly not very many of them left. Surprisingly, they don't usually go for much money
I most people don't really appreciate them or actually understand the significance of the model...and they tend to be family hacks passed down the generations.
So costing a bomb will just come with the territory, I guess
But no, I aint telling what it is...I'll leave that for speculation and your wild imagination...quite possibly a car that only a cat could love
Tue Jan 23, 2007 7:10 am
Felix, if it is a Jag E- Type I think I love you....
Tue Jan 23, 2007 4:42 pm
hmmmmmmm *scratches head*............*scratches arse*..........
a car only a cat could love...........

Well it won't be an E-type....
My first thought was a Ford Cortina, the real old one with the peace-sign tailights ( Smitty will know which model).........
or maybe even an old Valiant Regal with all the fake fur on the parcel shelf and a nodding dog ?? Cats would love that !!

Gos the Cortina would have been a Consul (drum brake front) or a Mark 1 (disc brake front.) Always wanted a two door Mark 1 to make a convertible out of.
