Walking for 2 years :'(

Sun Jul 02, 2006 2:11 pm

Well the shit has finally hit the fan i went to court on Thursday...

The reason i had to go to court is a bit of a story but ill do my best to shorten it...

Well i had finished work and decided to go to the shell and get some chocolates and drinks for myself and my g/f at the time, as she had been away for a week, was riding into Belmont and some young tosser in a White Nissan Skyline nearly knocked me and my bike into the gutter and up on the foot path so at the next set of lightssome heated words where exchanged...

After this i pulled into the servo, at the same time the white skyline pulled over across the road, i got my thing put them in the back pack and hopped back on the Ninja and headed home...

About half way home i while i was checking my mirros to see if i could merge lanes i saw i set a headlights flash their highbeam at me, first thing i thought was its the fucking skyline, so i said im not going to end up being road kill, so i knocked it back a cog or so and took off.

As i got to the end of the road, i had to slow down to take a bend and get on the inside line, so i checked my mirrors again to see if the Skyricer was close to me but the only thing i saw was red n blue light coming up behind me, so i eased on the brakes pulled over to the side of the road.

Got clocked doing 183 in a 80 zone... issued with a court notice, so last Thursday i went to court and the judge said what i had been court doing you can get a 4yr licence suspension and 9months in Goal...

At this point in time my legs are jelly, felt like throwing up and passing out, then he said considering my work situation, that a 9month Goal time might be a bit extreme, so he suspended my licence for 2years.... but....

I have to go back on the 20th of July for another hearing to see if i am going to get a small Goal sentence or Home detention for 2 months which will mean all i can do is sit at home and go to work, and i will also have a ankle braclet on so they can track me 24/7.

I think id rather the home detention.....

This thread isnt me having a whinge or anything like, just sharing my story and hoping no one else makes the same mistake i did. What ever i get im going to take it on the chin, no going to fight it....

Your guess is as good as mine, but the wierdest things is i wasnt evan full throttle was only sitting on 10,000 revs :S

That really sucks but as Strika said, how do you do that speed on a GPX 250. I'm pretty sure the top speed is about 160 or something.
Its something you should look into cause if you can prove that the bike does not do that speed you could get off.!!

Yeah I was thinking mine will only do round that. If mine done 180 I would never wanna upgrade. :D

yeh top speed is only 160, i can vouch for that, down hill full throttle, it had nothing left.

if you can prove there is no way your vehicle can go that fast they have to downgrade the fine.

look into it.

if i was closer i would be your walking partner, its hard waiting for the letter to come in the mail...

Thats what everyone keeps telling me, evan my father said if we had the money we would fight it that way but i dont why or how but my gpx is capable of doing 180 sat beside a friend on my bike while they where doing 180 in the car, is it actually possible for a GPX RII to go that quick or s my mates speedo out and the cop has decided to fuck me up as much as possible?

Sun Jul 02, 2006 3:38 pm

I'd say speedo error. The gearing wouldn't get it that high and you would need near perfect conditions.
If the std specs of the bike say 160 kph, ask your local Kawi dealer to give you a copy of the specs or a letter stating its top speed. Alternatively take it to a Dyno shop and get them to do a top speed run to prove it.

I think you've been had.!

not condoning what u did..cos bulk speed in a 80zone is silly..but saying that, some of the 80zones over here could easily be 110zones..and we all kno what happens in 110 zones...

i agree, i could only get a zzr250 up to 160kph- indicated..and that could be 10% wrong....

so if u could prove ur bikes top speed was in fact 144kph, that would make the cop a 39kph liar... and MAY reduce the severity somewhat??

good on ya for taking it on the chin tho mate, but good luck with it..

Hell!! if you can prove you are 39KPH out it means they actually have NO proof of what speed you were doing! A good laywer would get you a very very reduced sentence....

Oh, by the way, a Dyno run will help prove the top speed that the motor can output, but there wont be any wind resistance.......
