We were going through Launching Place about 7am.
On the big hill heading out of town towards Warbarton I wound the old Rex up a little early (before the speed limit said I was allowed to).
Out the corner of my eye I saw Mr Plod waving at me. I waved back & carried on my way.
Only to see some disco lights over my right shoulder a couple of hundred meters later.
We all pulled over & Mr Plod came up with a smile & says he wants to do a rego & license check.
So we go through the motions while my mate keeps looking at me as if to say is his he going to book you or what?
I even asked him what was around his neck & he shows me his new laser thing & says oh that is your speed just there...
77 in a 50 zone...Ooops.
This went on for a while & a cigarette later I said 'are you going to book me or what?'
Only for him to say 'No I know its hard to ride those things at such a slow speed without them farting & popping'
Even after I made a little funny about it coming up to Christmas & he should be raising funds for the up & coming Police Mans Christmas party....
He lets us go on our merry way.
We get to the top of Reefton & my mate takes his helmet off & he is as green as my Rex & runs off to the bushes to spread some fertiliser.
We decide to go back down Reefton & start heading home.
Then I see my old mate Mr Plod waving again.
This time I pull over as he has another Mr Plod friend by now.
I get off & say 'Have we met before?'
We have a laugh & I tell him about my mate 'Chucky' who is coming down the hill.
He sees I have been pulled over again & stops.
Mr Plod & his mate go over & get a bottle of water out of their bike & tell my mate to sit down & have a drink.
After he got some colour back in his face we rode off again.
What the hell is going on here????
Should this event restore my faith in our legal department?
I always thought we were only here for revenue?
