Single Seat Rego

Postby KLR » Tue Sep 14, 2004 11:26 am

Just got my rego bill today!! 402.70 for a year or 216.25 for 6 months.

So in an attempt to get out of it cheaper just looked at converting to single seat but thats just as expensive as rego.

Remove rear foot rests - Can do that myself amazingly
Compliance Plate from dealer - $66

I could either take all the foam off the rear seat and just have plastic( not an option ) or have to buy a cowl.

The cheapest cowl I could find so far is $150 unpainted. The guy who makes the cowls said a bloke he knows charges about $100 bucks to paint them up for you.

so am up for so far $316 to change over. Then I will have to pay my rego renew so all up about $566 big ones.

So if anyone knows where to find cheap cowls let me know cause just speaking to my dealer Kawasaki never made them for the 9R

Cant win, just when you think you are on top something always comes along and farks it up.

Well thats my whinge for today.

Oh well will just pay for 6 months looks like.

Hi Ian, Just to clarify, I'm sure that my rego was about $480 last year for the Bike. I'd say, "Queensland, cheap petrol and cheap rego." Just a reflection of a generally cheaper cost of living. 8)
Also, the oil companies claim that Melbourne has some of, if not the cheapest petrol in the country. This is due to the high number of independants out in the suburbs.

sheez...mate
I paid the reg on the missus' V8 Commodore yesterday..$511
and I am sure the bike was only....$340ish (paid earlier this year)
$480 seems a lot
btw
my comment was a shot at the bananabenders....
coz their cheap petrol (ALWAYS up to 10c/litre less than Vic)
is paid for by our (yep, mexican!) GST

under the state revenue sharing (well actually ..NOT sharing)
Qld gets around $1,500,000,000 more than Vic or NSW from GST
to pay for its transport..which goes on cheaper petrol
how..? the Qld govt subsidises the petrol companies 8-10c a litre
to reduce the excise and GST on fuels in Qld.....
so
not only are the bananas cheap in Qld...so is the petrol!
Federation sucks.....

cheers

I hear that if the Vic government was to lift all of its 'taxes' or 'levies' or call it what you want off our petrol we would be paying about 40cents (or so) less than what we are paying now!!
I hear there is a few cents extra still on our petrol to pay for Ansett and Pyramid Building Society!! Hmmmm  I wonder if this is true or not??
Who can remember Pyramid Building Society?? When this happened I was not even driving!

Makes perfect sense to me - Just imagine the damage you cause when you hit someone on a bike! It must be worth at LEAST a hundred bucks more than if you had've hit them in your car (which is what the CTP crap is about)

Guys the bike CTP is due to the Pillion's getting Totalled in an off, hence the single seat option and Jibbers whats this rubbish about no cowl for the 9 mine come with the Pillion seat on it and a cowl in a Foam bag.
I'll put the cowl on for the Friday ride maybe It'll go Faster ????. I hope not.

My rego bill arrived in the mail last week.

A total of $429.20!! OUCH!
They should include a tube of ky.gif with the bill

Below is how it is written on the paperwork:
Registration Fee $32.10
TAC Premium*(incl. $32.81 GST) $361.00
Insurance duty $36.10

*Includes charge for motor cycle safety initatives

Hmmm......can anyone tell me what these safety initatives are??

Just think, each time you see a speed camera.. in the middle of no where.. you know on a straight.. at the bottom of a hill.. just after a speed change.. each time you've passed one, it has saved your life...

Wow.. Thankyou so much to the Government for saving us all...

We still pay our CTP as a part of our reg in VIC, the same as NSW used to. The NSW RTA said:"We're going to privatise the CTP insurance and you can get it through your own insurance company now. It will be much cheaper, this way there's more competition" Bullshit, It was for the first year and then it went up and up and up.
I thought the CTP was much worse in NSW, than what you guys have just said.
Anyhows:
Governments and Insurance companies are Carnts, anyway you sum it up. Fark em all, feed em flies.
