First ride with the mates

Ok went for a ride with the mates for the first time.
Has taken a while one is married ...say no more and the other broke his collar bone a little while ago ......no it was playing soccer, however he did the other side a few years ago on the bike

Anyway Im on the gpx250, mate 1 on a vtr1000 and mate 2 on a brand new Vulcan750. Bloody nice bike might I add and a hell of alot lighter than I would have thought lookin at it. Cruisers are not my thing but its still a thing of beauty up close.

It nearly come to a nasty end real quick upon riding along a road which had recently been altered. Indecision can certainly be the mother of all fuck ups. My mate on the new vulcan headed the way the road used to go and nearly ended up on his face after stopping but a flies dick away from the curb head on 10 minutes into it.

Now since it was the first time I had high expectations for the ensuing enjoyment and while it was good it wasnt that good.

At every set of lights I was ringin the neck of it to play catch up.
Im not a huge fan of speeding but most of the ride I had to just to try and stay close.

I think this took a lot of the enjoyment out of it. So I think this has moved the upgrade forward just so I can relax a little more on the ride and have more fun.

Dont get me wrong they werent taking off to leave me behind, just the torque on the bigger bikes gave them that additional speed off the line .

Oh well just have to wait I guess.

I'm very much in the same boat, mate - ride days for me are simply Plas, Neka, Greeny etc sitting at intersections waiting for me to play catchup on my little 2R

I know how you feel when your wrist is cranked all the way back on the throttle and everone in front of you just disappears Ah well, we're doing it for the fun and getting technical about the way you ride is the most appealing thing to me - anyone can lay down and go fast but much more skill is involved in the negotiation of twisties

I used to get frustrated going out on rides with my mates on my old GPX250...they'd always wait for me, but I had no chance of keeping up when they blasted out of the corners. But I tell you I learned heaps on that bike and I rode it for 2 years before upgrading to the old 9, by which time I could ride well enough that once I got used to the extra power I could keep up with the fastest of them no problems.
Nowdays I leave most of my mates behind and I'm the one waiting for them so it can still get lonely

Ya, precisely - get the experience on the little bike and find out all its inner workings and then we can shift to something bigger and possibly keep up

I'm going to hang onto mine for a while yet.... I wanna have my knee down and do a few courses and track days on the 2R before I upgrade as I see it's there for the experience, so why not use it?

Sweet good to see im not the only one.
Been on the 2fiddy for about 12 months now and its just staring to shit me when ya twist and dont go. Still gonna be at leat another 6 months before the next one but that will be pretty good timing for a it of practice on the newy b4 summer hits.

Im thinkin the extra power will also provide a little extra confidence to be where I wanna be when on the road. Surely that can make it that much safer when in traffic.

Just gotta stop buying the motorcycle trading magazine. Kills me everytime I look at it. Never did like window shopping.

Yeah Shaman - you should hop on my bike tomorrow - the ZZR250 is a whole nother level of 'slow' compared to a ZX2R

(especially when it's as out of tune as mine is)
