Last night i was making a u turn on a hill and rolled off the throttle, next thing i know i'm lying on my back while the ZZR-600's lying down next to me slowly choking on fuel and air.

So, now i'm out $60 for levers and $200 for a new right front centre fairing. And you know what.......i think it was pretty lucky really cause there's no other damage (cept for two small stonechips in the exhaust) and it hasn't cost me too much to fix.

sounds like you've come out of it VERY lucky... Might pay to pick up a lotto ticket tommorrow and see if you can squeeze out abit more luck..

The damage doesn't sound too bad at all though...

Bad luck but good lesson learn't though. I have felt the drop sensation a couple of times when I was learning...scared me enough to learn....

U turns are the hardest thing to master too I reckon and rolling off the throttle is the one thing NOT to do, well, lesson learnt, been tehre done that, at least the damage isn't too bad and you and bike are still fine.

They're a heavy bastard to pick up on your lonesome too, had to do it a few times alas.

I just ride the clutch like an asian woman at traffic lights when i do a u-turn.

And seeing as i still f*** 'em up occasionally the leg comes out to kick me back upright (damn i suck at u-turns). Need to spend some time practising 'em methinks.

yes, bummer there mate Hope you get her ship shape again soon. Perhaps a little U-turn practice in a deserted street is on the cards.

2 words: Clutch and rear brake!

And second gear I reckon works best. Not as jerky as first so makes for a smoother u turn. 3rd might end up stalling due to low revs/speed.

I would say most small accidents come from low speed accidents....

Remember your slow riding from level 1.

Plenty of revs, rear brake, keep your body upright and push the bike down.

I dont like U turns either ,But we occasionally have to do them

Sorry to hear that.
But you should be happy with the price of repairs - my right centre fairings are $700 a piece. Hence why I felt justified buying $400 oggies.

I bet you were in first gear..... at which point the engine braking will make your bike dive to the front when you roll off.... 2nd gear is much more gentle, but requires a bit more clutch control sothat you dont stall it..... Stalling it will make you drop your bike too....
