KSRC Fundraiser...

Postby MadKaw » Wed Aug 25, 2004 12:57 pm

As you may have read, KSRC is currently having a bit of a bandwidth problem.
To resolve this we will need to upgrade to a bigger plan.
Dan (through his contacts) has paid for the hosting we currently have and has offered to pay extra for the upgrade.
Its now starting to get a bit more expensive than previously thought and I don't think Dan should be out of pocket... by too much anyway..:-)
Therefore, I think we should have some sort of fundraiser and see what we can do to help out..
As the site owner, I'm quite happy (well maybe not that happy..:-)) to help cover costs but it would be good if we can share the burden..:-)
Theres going to be quite a few of us at the GP soon so lets think about ways to handle this.

(I kept telling you guys we should stay on Yahoo, its free and easy, b ut no, you wouldn't listen to me would you, no, you lot of techno IT freaks always want something better don't you, well know look what you've done, blah, blah, blah,... :lol: )

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Love those final comments.

As I said it's not a big issue. But I have an idea how ever.

It would mean that people can have their own @ksrc-au.com email address and webspace. at say $5 or something like that, which would give
them a mailbox, which could be say 10 or 20mb, and webspace for their own website, which would be viewable @ http://www.ksrc-au.com/username
The email addy could also be forwarded to their own person ISP account if they wish...

Just a thought.

Dan
I was under the impression that the hosting, and the forum software
was a freebie..didn't know you were paying
and I agree with Dave, you shouldn't be outta pocket

***idea***....
if us (even just Vic members) slung Dan ...what
a fiver ??..a gold coin???
everytime we rode together...
if you like, consider it entry to the ride
and in doing so, raise (guess) $200-$250 a year
is the problem solved.....?

I am happy to have extra benefits from the site....
but if stuff is setup on the site ..
and someone forgets to pay or reneges,
whats that make Dan...a debt collector???

***idea***
have a bbq (like we are gonna)
give the host .....a blue or red note (for beer food and other)
and the host gives some of the $ to Dan

more ideas???
pleeeze
just, don't make it too complicated
GOTTA LUV the 12R!!

Seems like a fair idea to me Dan and Dave.
Though as I posted on the other topic - is it really an issue at the moment, barring this hopefully one off situation?
I happy to pay, a bit, for this forum. Just wondering if the need is really that urgent.

Was about to suggest somthing similar, i paid $5.00 to join netrider.org.au
and got a lamited member card...

I for one dont mind chipping in a yearly fee for an addy.. not fussed about the webspace...

I also think that t-shirts, caps, etc would be a good way to go...

Probably not a good idea to get members to pay an annual fee up front - it would turn most potential new members off straight away.

Gold coin donation on group rides would be good (seeing as we have quite a few over the course of a year) as well as at any gatherings like PI & BBQ's etc.

You all got a laminated Member Cards, The Stickers. That will be $5 each
thankyou, The distributors in each state are in the shit. I figure a
about 6000 ish in Vic, 3000 - 4000 for NSW / SA, 500 - 1000 for QLD and
a couple of hundred to ACT and Perth.

Rob = $30,000 Think I should be exempt? ;-p
Mario = $1,500
Dave = $20,000
Jason = $20,000
Glenn = $5,000
Michael = $1,500
Kempy = $200
Total = $78,200 funds raised. (fark I'm good) NB: I'm
not a non profit organisation, either :-D

That should cover costs, don't you think. Better start selling / re
cooping the costs from those member cards, hey. ;-P

Seriously, If you guys think we should sell some and donate the money to
the club, I have no issue. Don't think to many people will be tagging
new members and handing them out though. That was the main purpose of
them, to advertise the group and get more members. Maybe those who have
some, would like to donate a buck or two for them??

I was going to offer the email addy's at some point.
I'm sure something will be worked out.. as for how much it's not going to be much.. certainly not $100+ that's for sure..
Like everyone else, I like to do my part for the club, so I don't feel like
I'm owed anything at all.

But don't stress about it much, it's not that big a deal.
Dave's just looking for idea's... Some of those idea's offered could also help the club.. I liked the laminated card idea.. But it's one of those things that needs a decent member base, and some commited supporters. ie. 5% to members, but 10% when you present your card.

Second place
"a Piggie Back Ride to the Bar by Mina"
Boobie Prize
"an Auto graphed Photo of Neka an his Flexi Coated "Blade".

Rob... Its not me.!!!
Those cheap bastards I sent the stickers, I mean club cards too haven't paid up yet.!!!... :-)

A $1 donation on ride would be a good start and raffle something off at P.I. would also help... although lap of the carpark on 000 might be a little difficult..... only beacause the car park is grass and 000 has slicks... oh and it won't be there...:-)
So what can we raffle.???
I may be able to get some more Kawasaki Flags in time....

the site...I read it every day so don't think coughing up some green
would be a prob!

All you lucky guys and girls going to the GP,Just an idea, See if you could get some posters or pics signed by some of the riders. Maybe we could have a little auction on here for some signed pics, shirts or helmets etc...

I wonder if any brisbane and surrounds members here would interested in a KSRC ride. And what ever it costs for a tank of fuel, we donate the same amount or more if ya want to, to KSRC. I would also be interested in KSRC shirts and patches for my jacket, if you are able to do it.

I'm sure we'll think of something so we can raise some at PI.
After all the beer we'll drink you can raid our pockets when we pass out.
BBQ's and T-shirt sales and maybe a Auction at the track
