Team Crashed 2006
Sorry, I have to be the first one. Not proud of it at all.

5th Jan, 7:20am, just outside my office(Cannon Hill), left turn, low-sided.
Went too hard, tyres were definately warmed up as I travelled 7km from home. Not sure if the cold road surface was the cause, it rained quite abit last night.
Wasn't going too fast, but I shall not reveal the speed I was doing.

I felt the tyres losing grip and I just had to let it go down. I did not brake as I thought if I try to bring it up, I will high-side.
Saw the bike scraping/sliding on the ground while I slided on my right side. I kept my head off the ground and pushed myself so that I'm sliding on my back instead of my right.
Bike stop 10m from me, picked myself up, no broken bones or major pain anywhere.
Walked to the bike, a family in a 4WD came up and asked if I needed help, I said yes pls(to lift the bike up).
By the time he pulled over to the side, I had already picked up the bike by myself, I have no idea how I did that.
I turned around and the 4WD took off! Obviously seeing that I don't need help anymore...

Kicked the bike into neutral, started it and no dramas. Didn't want to inspect the bike there as my office is only 100m away. We've got a store/workshop at the back of the building.
Parked the bike aside and went into office and pulled out 2 first aid kits. Fixed myself up and then went to inspect the bike and walked 100m back to where I went down n took some pics.

Left hand turn


I kept more to the left side as there was a car coming and wanted to turn right onto the road I was on. The thin white lines are from my center-stand and clutch lever.

Left boot, that black spot is not a small hole, it's only dirt stuck on the boot.


Both knees, the left one took more beating


Left elbow, abrasion against the inside of the jacket. Some of the fabric got stuck and I had to pick them out.


After bandaging the wound.

I always had my jacket + gloves + boots on when I ride, and I never knew how useful they are untill today...

Bit dissapointed your jacket let you get that graze on your elbow too .

Sorry to hear of the off RG. Glad all damage to self is minor and the bike is repairable/rideable. Sounds like a low side I had a while back where I lost the rear wheel on a wet metal grate in the centre of the intersection.

Wet metal provides really shithouse traction, which of course I knew already from experiences with tram tracks, unfortunately didn't see/forgot about this drain and down we went.

Hope you end up being the only member of TC06 but daresay there will be others to keep you company given that we are only 5 days into 06...

Bummer RG, at least you came out OK.
What jacket was it.. It looks like the Joe Rocket one I just bought... If it is the grazed elbow doesn't inspire much confidence as it does have padding there....

Bad luck RG, that is a bit of a shitter, at least the damage to you isn't too bad. (Had worse bark off from skateboard prangs )...

when you picked your bike up, the reason you could is called 'adrenalin'. It can make people do the craziest things sometimes - but that road surface looks in great nick ??? wonder why the tyres let go ........

Yes, that road is perfect! I played it every morning , thus I suspect it was cold surface from the rain last night. Or maybe just too overconfident.

That's a Dririder airflow mesh jacket that I got for $100 3 weeks ago, I'd say it did it's job. I will get another one of them.
And those gloves sure saved my hands from alot alot of pain.

The bike only has some minor cosmetic damages.




Talking about scraping center-stand...

Sorry to hear about the off mate, glad the injuries are minor. The fact that it could have been worse never seems to help much when your baby is broken does it. Hope to see you out and about in short order.

I'm glad everything did it's job Ok and you walked away. The bike seems repairable, so that's a bonus.
