Woohoo Finally!

I just felt like sharing, but i *finally* managed to get the ZZR250 to lift it's front wheel.

Probably about 3 inches from the ground for about 2/10ths of a second. But I'm proud anyway :P Took a crapload of clutch/throttle in 1st gear, only thing else i could do is lean back further.

I'm guessing that lifting the thing right up is impossible ?

Sounds just like the sorta wheelies I was getting out of the old GSX400E.

I might save further experimentation for the track anyway Senor Plod ;)

With such a little bike you have to bastardise it to pick the wheel up, so you are at risk of damaging the clutch/gearbox. If you are sucessful then it'll get up like a priest at a boarding school and be just as hard to control.

Wheelstands are safe when they're effortless.. if you have to work too hard to get the wheel off the ground, that's where the danger lies as it can be unpredictable.

If you must continue then I'd suggest a smaller front sprocket and/or larger rear.

I dunno, seems like a fair bit of effort to just get it a few inches off the ground. Maybe my motor is a bit on the crap-tastic side given that it's done 90,000kms ;)

I used to really be able to hoik it up with a pillion but I gave up trying on the old 2 fiddy - those things are more unstable than a psych off his meds- especially at speed

If this helps:

a) I've seen a video of a guy in the US riding a stand up on a ZZR250

but then consider this

b) I've watched a kid loop a ZZR250 after trying too hard to ride a wheelie.

What's the answer... save it for a bigger bike, find a nice quiet spot, hospital carparks are ideal. It's heaps easier and your chance of looping is greatly reduced.

Stock ZZR250 with the standard rear sprocket??? I doubt it. It is seriously under-powered!
