I've heard some alarms have this as a feature. But honestly i dont think i'd have one, simply because i always leave my bike in first when i park (same goes for my car).

I saw a guy on a big cruiser at Whales Kawasaki in Bne ... he had remote start. Bike starts up on its own as old mate walks back towards it. First thing I thought was "Lucky it wasnt in gear mate".

Cant say I'll be rushing out to buy one ...

I have it, remote ignition and start. Handy some times, and it does occasionally startle a few people as the bike rumbles into life by itself. :D

Built my own though, and the neutral switch still over rides the system, so not a problem left in gear, which I never do anyway.

I've streetfightered mine (well work-in-progress) and I've removed the ignition switch altogether, and use a disk-lock if necessary (steering lock/ignition switch integrated). Yet to disable the start button though, as I'm still making sure the system is reliable, and thinking about integrating an alarm/solar re-charger into it.

PS it cost about $100 I think, I used a remote kit that I bought a few years ago, plus a couple of relays, wiring, connectors etc.

What about warming the beast up in the morning while you finish eating your 13 weetbix.

Nice idea, but mine doesn't have autochoke (yet).

I only did it because my mods required removing the ignition switch. Wouldn't have bothered otherwise.

I have an alarm on my bike.... which I set off accidentally every now and then just by having the remote in my pocket.... I would hate to accidentally start my bike...

Oh and as for people saying "lucky it wasnt in gear".... How many bikes will start whilst in gear these days?

did you install it yourself?

there's so many cheap alarm kits with remote start.

My concern with stuff like this is that there is one more item for something to go wrong with. :?

Which is one good reason for doing it yourself. I can bypass my remote ignition in under 2 minutes if I need to, don't even have to disconnect/remove anything.

The immobiliser was my main concern, didn't want it cutting in while on the move.
