They costly?

Came back to my bike in the uni carpark to find a dirty great dent in the tank. I can't figure out how it could have happened, there's no damange to the paint, other than cracks caused by the dent. It's probably the size of a fist.

From what I understand they weld something to the tank and pull the dent out, then repsray.
Do they have to respray the whole tank? or just the area affected.

On the G2, unlike the G1, the whole tank's painted a single colour; green. Everything else is stickers.

If the dent is fist-sized (it's exam-season at uni; someone unable to control their cram-aid goey?), the spraypainters will probably end up respraying about a quarter of the surface of the tank. As the colour isn't some stupid triple-candy-metallic-hologram, which Kwak are fond of using on a fair few models, the paint will be easy enough to blend.

Depending on where the dent is, you might get away without having to disturb the triangular stickers on the lower front of the tank, which leaves only the Kwaka stickers, which are, like, $6 each from an accessory shop.

You're probably looking at about $150 to get the dent pulled and the affected area resprayed.

I would encourage a full tank respray if possible as it is going to be hard to blend such a small area. Don't get me wrong, there are people out there that good that it's not an issue, however for most, let them paint the whole tank

Is just leaving it an issue? there are some cracks in the paint around the dent .

If the paint is cracked, the metal underneath will develope surface rust over time.

Cheaper to go the full tank spray with colour code from Kawaka and stickers. This way it'l match, nothing worse than having it a shade light or dark. It sucks if you can see it.

I don't know around here but where I come from that kind of dent can be fixed without spraying. They did some kind of suction thing and carefully mend it back. This being no cracks on the paint as you mentioned. I don't know the exact name of the technique in english.

From what i can make of the pic (sorry my eye sight is not what it use to be) it must of been hit by something hard. Where the dent is, its a very strong part of the tank cos its on a fold\roll. I'd say its a ball or ur bike has been teabaged.

From what i know about panel repairs, u can either drill a whole in the tank and pull out the dent, then putty it up to fill the hole and get rid of the ripple that will be in the tank body. The other method is by using a welder like machine which will stick a rod to the tank and use a jig to pull the dent out.

Puttying & respraying is a must. U need to putty to get rid of the ripple and u need to spray the tank to get rid of the cracks in the paint. U can only spray the repaired area but u might have a problem with color matching, overspray etc etc.

When u need to get it done, give me a buzz, i can certianly point u in the right direction.

Holy snap something hit that with some serious E=MC2. What a barstage.
I'd seal the cracks with some clear nail polish to stop any moisture getting under the paint until you get it fixed mate.
Hope its not too painful a fix.
