International shipping for bikes

Has anyone sent (or had imported) a bike from OS?

Who'd you use? How much?

Thanks!

The problem will not be shipping but getting the bloody thing thru Aus plating regulations AND if you can get it thru them you'll have to pay thru the nose for insurance

I looked at bringing mine to Aus with me but the best advice is to buy here

I agree.

I've done some research too, wanted to bring my Bandit400 over from Singapore, but the cost of importing it is simply disgusting.
And being a 'grey import'(or watever u call it), the resale value is not very promising.

How'd you go finding an importer though? Or were you using people in country of origin?

Would you be awfully offended if I were to enquire as to who the local (Australian ones you found) were?

Awfully offended? hmm...maybe...I'll think about it.

nah, just kidding.

As I'm in BNE, these guys are the most relevant to me---> http://www.importmc.com.au/contact.htm

They used to have lots more bikes in stock.

You can choose to bring it in yurself if u have contacts from the country of origin(like me). But there's just too many paperwork, the time and money spend is just not worth it for me.

Thanks for that. The bike I'm looking at bringing in is a custom, so the Gov is not protecting any retailing manufacturer from my efforts.

Which, hopefully, means I won't get reamed.
