Police targeting Hawkesbury and Blue Mountains (Syd)

Postby MadKaw » Mon Aug 29, 2005 4:35 pm

Went for a long ride on Sunday and must have seen about 6 or 7 cop cars.
They were on every single decent biking ride in the area.
There were 2 on the way to Springwood lookout with both mobile and stationary radars. 1 on the way up the Bells line with a stationary radar and 1 mobile on the way down. Had a reasonable run up the Putty but then got stuck behing a cop car on the way back into Windsor and there was another pulling over vehicles on Richmond Road. That and the 3 fixed speed cameras I went past made for a pretty slow ride...

Next weekend is supposed to be worse.

Highway Patrol Officers from the Hawkesbury, Blue Mountains and Chifley Local Area Commands will be out in force next week to conduct stage 1 of 'Operation Daylight'.

Stage 1 of police enforcement to be conducted next week

Police will be targeting a variety of driving offences on three main roads - the Great Western Highway, the Bells Line of Road and Springwood/Hawkesbury Road, with the ultimate goal of reducing the number of speed related fatal and injury crashes.

'Operation Daylight' is the police enforcement component of a wide-reaching road safety program 'The Gateway Project' which is being conducted in conjunction with local council Road Safety Coordinators from Bathurst Regional, Lithgow, Hawkesbury and Blue Mountains Councils.

Sounds like you did well to avoid them. It always gives you the shits to get caught behind one but it's better than getting done.

I think next week might be an early (very early) Saturday ride somewhere and then stick the 10 back in the garage before the lads get out and about.
It's really all about standing around drinking Dave's beer.

Yep, I won't be out this weekend. Its Jus's birthday friday and then Fathers day Sunday...
The bike felt really good. The new bits and some fresh oil made it like a new bike again...:-)
I also got an early fathers day present (that I bought myself..:-)).
A Nitro helmet. Felt really good and is an improvement over my old Rossi rep.

So ya gonna do a comparison between the Rossi and the Nitro?
The Nitro seems to be a real nice lid for the dollars, well built, quiet?, removable bits?
I'm glad the bike feels ok, after droppin them on the road it can feel a little strange revvin them back up again, I suppose with the mods it makes it feel like a different bike so you havent got the old comparison to use .
I may try and shoot round at some time, but hey you know how it is with time lately( doesnt help when you have to start fabricating carbon bits for blokes).
Catch ya Dave
