Just had my first accident (not serious)

Postby HemiDuty » Sat Aug 27, 2005 12:42 am

Kinda feel bad posting something this trivial after the recent fatallities around here, but anyway.... here's what happened:

I had just left the Coffee Club at Milton after meeting Shifty to get the rego label for the GPX (thanks mate), and was in the left lane turning right onto Milton road under the train bridge near the brewery. A chick in an EF wagon is in the right lane. As we go around the corner and start heading down Milton Road she cuts left into my lane to go into the servo in front of me. I had nowhere to go and just got in as much braking as I could before inevitably coming off (rather than run into her) and I hit the deck on the right hand side. The bike kinda fell on my left leg, and my helmet and right leg both brushed her car. Thankfully nothing went under the wheel of the car, but it was close. Anyway a bunch of people came running straight away, they sounded more terrified than me, and we got the bike up, and then wheeled it into the servo to look for damage.

It broke the right front fairing, the right side cover and the rear panel, and popped the right rear indicator out. The rear brake lever is broken, and so is the right hand side mirror. I have minor scrapes on my leg, not much pain there, but my left thumb is sore as, the drivers friend is a student nurse and she taped it up with some electrical tape I had in my pocket, but I have it in a bandage now. Will get the doc to check it tomorrow. The worst thing is, I had electrical tape holding on the Vinyl panel below the tank on the right side, and the drivers friend took photos of the damage with her camera phone. Makes the bike look bad lol.

Anyway will ring her on Monday to sort it. She (the driver) was only young, she said she didn't see me, she wasn't saying a lot but she might have been in a bit of shock I guess. She was nice enough though. She was covered by her parents insurance thankfully.

A mate of Shifty's (Greg I think) I had met at the coffee club on a ZRX (gave him a sticker when I met him 8) ) came past only a few minutes after the acco, and rode back behind me to make sure I got to my turnoff OK. Thanks mate! Hope he makes it to the club. I couldn't use my thumb at all on the way home, so just prodded the indicator with my knuckles and changed cogs without the clutch.

Ah well at least I finally had a stack  I hope you guys don't think I am too much bad luck for this club!

Ride safe, and don't trust the cages for a second.

Mate sounds like you've had a decent share of stacks in one go! I agree, could have been *far* worse.
Just get some deepheat onto those bruises, best thing you can do for it.

B.t.w. was her nurse friend cute? ;-)

I'm just thankful my only stacks have been two stationary drops, one of my first 250 years ago, and one last Monday when i took a mates zx9r for a spin. Tell ya what, they are big bastards & bloody hard to hold up when you have it on full lock on a slight slope. Thank god he had crash's on it though!!!!!!

Would have to say that both sucks and blows man, probably put that one down to the sort of experiance you dont need and glad to hear your not too damaged.

Certain times of day cages devolop tunnel vision you have to watch them and stay a bit clear of them.

Lucky she stopped i have heard of plenty of times things like that happens and you get left with a damaged bike and they disapear over the horizon.

Hemi baby you're not having fun at all.
Get back onto her straight away. I bit of time to rationalize & she might start backing out of responsibility.
Keep your chin up Hemi. :)

Thanks people.

Well Tanya, I am up to 13 Black cats now, but having trouble catching number 14.....

And yes Mike, her friend was cute, infact she was very cute. So much so that when she asked for my name I had to get my license out..... :P

Well both my leg and hand are sore as now so it's off to the Doc I go. He will probably say shut up and stop whinging anyway.

Hemi - glad to hear that you only ended up with some bruising/scratches etc - it could have been *worse* thank god it wasn't. Hope you get a call on Monday, so all the damage can be sorted.

Was this your first prang ?? If so, mate you have done *well* all things considered. Grab someone else's bike and go for a fang straight away :D

Hey Drimi,

Glad you are OK and that you are not taking it to heart too much.
Get all that bad luck out of the way in one hit and then it's smooth sailing for you :)

Take care,
