Holy kraut!

Postby Shifty » Fri Aug 05, 2005 6:48 pm

So anyway, here I am riding home from work at a leisurely pace of 60km/h, in traffic, behind a semi. Then on come the brake lights, the pads groan and the thing wipes off speed as only a fully-laden semi can.

Gee, that truck looks like it might be too h........ kerrrr-furgin-bang!

As I watch things unfold in front of me, the container being carried by the truck hits the overhead train bridge and the truck comes out from under it, leaving three feet of container dangling off the edge of the truck right in my face, as the semi finally comes to a stop.

Make sure you pay attention in traffic people, you never know what can happen!

Meanwhile, I'm going to change my undergarments.

Lucky you were on the ball eh? I had a similar one many moons ago. I was hooning down the freeway in my Mk4 Cortina, rounded a bend and there was the tipper part of a 17 ton truck leaning on a bridge. The rest of the truck was many meters up the road and the driver was bouncing up and down trying to attract peoples attention.

EDIT moral of the story, if you drive a tipper, lower the damn thing before you drive off.

Real bravery is being afraid but doing it anyway.
