Just trying to find a bike alarm but not sure what where and how much?
If anyboby has any sugestions that would be great

depends on what you want i guess. do you want real supa doopa protection or is a deterrant enuff for you? in the end, if a theif wants your bike, they can always just pick it up and stick it in a van

i scored one from jaycar for $50 in a group buy thats got shock sensor, ignition sensor and immobiliser. nothing flash, but then its better than just sticking a sign on it saying "please do not steal" battery backup woulda been nice tho, maybe i'll spend a couple more bucks on the one i get for the new bike....

Depends on how much you want to spend to.

There are GPS systems avalible now that will allow you to find your bike if id DOES get stolen, though how effective they are in Australia I don't know. I guess they are probably getting better since we have realtime GPS city navigation avalible to us now.

I've heard the down side to these systems though is that they can drain your batery, so you can be faced with the problem of
(a) bike not starting for YOU due to dead battery
(b) discovering your bike has been stolen AFTER the battery has run out.

My info is a few years old now as I havn't looked into it since buying the TT, anyone know anything more?

If you're worred about kids mucking with your bike, or maybe stopping joy riders, go for a cheap noiser maker. If you want to stop hardened bike crims, good luck (but I've found a dirty great chain & disc lock work well). I'd only got for a super expensive Thatcham rated system in the insurance company demands it.

I'm not exactly an expert, but I've owned bikes for a long time, parked them in central London and never had one stolen.

I have one of these alarms. So far it has worked well. That is, the bike is still here and those that know about the alarm dont stand around my bike (because the perimeter sensor tells them to piss off). To that degree I really like it. The pager works very well, a little difficult to learn how to use it (secret button combinations like a PS2 game), but worth the effort for the flexibility in arming. Plus it has an awesome range.

I consider this to be the best sort of alarm (short of a GPS unit). With perimiter, ignition, shock, tilt, battery back-up, pager and so on.

I bought mine when the aussie dollar was about 4-5c stronger. But, its still better value than a locally available alarm (those that I have seen).

I grabbed a cheapie from Jaycar Electronics as well, $70 bucks ! I only got it for a deterrent not to stop any real thief. Easy to install too.
