Should KSRC stay or go.? Hosting bill arrived.!!!

Postby MadKaw » Wed Nov 28, 2018 5:33 am

Just got the bill for hosting the site and I can't really justify paying it given the lack of activity.
We haven't raised any money for a while and I don't like my chances of being able to raise enough to cover it - $160.

Any thoughts or ideas.?????

If ppl would like to make a small donation shoot me a pm and I'll send details.
If we don't get enough, I'll top it up, if we get too much I'll put it to the following year..

Everyone who donates will be a given VIP Status under their avatar- if we can work out how to do it.. :D

I'd be sad to see it go as I still pop in to see what's happening in the wonderful world of Kawasaki in Oz but also understand that it would he hard to justify the cost based on the lack of activity. I guess that doesn't really help answer your question at all does it other than knowing I'm a fence sitter :D :kuda:

I hope others read this topic!

I have the same dilemma on a forum I manage, which costs $190 per year, and attracts only a couple of posts per month.
A pity, because forums are great places, and not as cliquey as facebook groups.

Tough choice.

There's a lot of history and info on here, but its hard to justify the $ for that.

Could set up some crowd funding thing, but not sure there is enough interest.

GAGF - This forum has cost me a fortune since I found it..... :kuda: :kuda:

BUT, on the other hand, I have met many great people on here and miss the KSRC get togethers but I suppose that's the way it goes from time to time.
As stated, there is so much info in these pages that it would be a shame to loose it. Maybe we would be better off using this than faceache but fb is so much in-your-face it's easier to go that way.

I understand that Go Fund Me take a big percentage so just put up the request here and FB and see if the members appreciate the contribution that this site has had to the Kawasaki riders past and present.

I am happy to chip in some $ to help keep it afloat.

I'll chip in if we can get enough takers to cover it. Mostly for nostalgic reasons as the activity is minimal. A pity to lose all those years of resources, but I'd completely understand if you didn't want to keep it going Dave.

I'll throw in a tenner.

As inevitable as it seems, I don't want to lose another good forum to the cancer that is facebook...
