Yep, last year with my wife Joy and another couple done a river cruise plus European tour over 3.5 weeks by car, and the last leg was in the black forest in Germany where I used to go down the road at where we were staying and drool as the locals were out for a squirt without any concern about a hiding cop with a speed gun wanting to raise revenue or as we know it "save lives" .

very much looking forward to it.... 8)

a few years ago, we did the Romantic Road (Romantische Straße) thru Bavaria from Würzburg to Fussen
.. and I know exactly what you mean. Was pleasant to do some 'spirited' driving without the thought of
loss of licence or empting of pocket that occurs here in the name of revenue raising (aka road safety)

On the last day (12/12/2017) before the speed limit was dropped at Gingers Creek, we had a spirited ride.....still smiling

This trip looks awesome, enjoy!

I just got back from 11 days and 4150kms around the south island of New Zealand. Such an amazing place for a ride. Europe is next on my bucket list so will be interested to hear how the trip went.

Rented bikes through South Pacific. Considered shipping but price was similar and hiring reduced the mucking around at each end plus had support in country if anything went wrong.

Bike choice is limited so picked a BMW f800 gt. I was a little underwhelmed at first, normal ride is zx10, but once I figured out where the sweet spot was it went ok. Plenty of twisties and the roads are really grippy.

To ship ones bike across to New Zealand is affordable and is on the bucket list.
Tassie is another great destination with great roads, relaxed policing beautiful country sides,

When I contacted South Pacific they were happy to chat and put together this together for us. the only reason we didn't do the north east coast road was it was still closed from the earthquakes a few years back. It is open now.

I had to break this up into two maps, google didn't like all the way points.

Tassie is great but NZ it simply outstanding :prayer: :prayer:

Back and still smirking.....

The H2 SE is awesome, a fun experience even though it would not be my choice for the next time, would do it rather on a KTM 1090 or beemer's S1000XR.

Went through countless passes in great company 10 of us including Cliff Popp, the organiser (OZALPS) who is a great host to the experience, thus I would do it again with him. Next time maybe the East tour.

Glad you had a great trip. Going to plan on going next year.
What made you settle on Ozalps tours?
Did you compare other companies, routes etc?
Looking fwd to hearing more about this

Some of my Tuesday social riding group have done trips with Cliff (Ozalps) in the past and they were more than satisfied, thus we all planned to do it with him.
No, I didn't look elsewhere as i'm always happy to go with what works. Having experienced Ozapls I'd do any trip with Cliff as his personality is very well suited to coordinate 9 other peoples personalities, their needs and wants, be one of the guys when it called for and yet be in control of the proceedings, so it all unfolds in a seamless manner.
I suppose, I do put a lot of emphasis on this factor as even with the best locations, accommodation, programs & experiences if the conductor sux than the music sux too....
He has made suggestions like paragliding out of Chamonix (France) which is an amazing experience, five of us done it and it was the greatest place to be introduced to paragliding. http://www.fly-chamonix.com/en/?gclid=C ... _tEALw_wcB

As a tour operator he has seemingly effortlessly made sure that we were happy and taken care of all the way to departing at the end when he made sure we each of us got to our ongoing destination. The bikes were great , no hick ups there either.

Cliff sounds like a good operator and if he is Aussie I am guessing he would be used to Aussie humour too.

I have emailed to get dates for next year but will be difficult to choose between East, West and the Mugello GP trip. I am tending to go for the East as I have heard good reports of the roads around Croatia.

What was the traffic and weather like
