What is my GZP900r worth?

Tue Dec 20, 2016 11:30 am

I bought this bike from a friend with the intent of joining a club and riding on the weekends . I spent many and hour fixing and replacing parts to restore it to the condition seen in photos.
unfortunately I am running out of space in the garage and the bike will be my first casualty.

Just wandering what a bike like this is worth?

Hi
Value will be contingent on three things - general condition, originality and KMs. The market for these bikes is now primarily with either the "collector" or "nostalgia" brigade.

General condition - platics condition (scratches and chips), any visible fading of plastics, indicators or alloy corrosion, is the wiring loom fiull of horrible red connectors, what does the chain look like, are the wheels pitted, what does the inside of the tank look like, does the petrrol tap and the carbs have fuel stains on them, original airbox etc I'd also suggest that the red and blue coloured bikes are more popular than the green.
Originality - from what I can see from the photos you have a 4-1 exhaust and the script on the side panels looks wrong, and there are decals that seem to be missing - has it been resprayed?
KMs - of course the lower the KMs the better the price. Also if you have some record of servicing that would help. And is the engine quiet and what does the cam chain sound like.
Also Australians seem to like Oz delivered bikes over imports but that seems to be declining in importance.

A good GPZ900 (I'll get slaughtered for this) will bring between $3k- $4K. So if you have crosses against the notes above start taking off $ from there. Based on what I can see I would be saying $2K- $2.5K would see it on it's way.

It's worth whatever someone is prepared to pay for it. I dunno why GPZ9s aren't worth much. Great old bus but maybe not that uncommon- they sold 70000 of them. I paid $300 for my GPZ but it was really sad although it ran. :) I WOULD have paid a lot more had the owner known it was my own bike I sold 16 years previously. :)

I agree with Pkay too- your bike I'd be looking $1200-2k. Someone less tight than me might pay slightly more.

They don't worth much, unlike the Z's.

I bought mine in absolutely original condition, 50k, original black chrome pipes, and original 17 inch wheels. Some minor paint flakes on the wheels. It was under 3k.

Last month I saw one similar to mine on ebay for $2k buy it now. I was soooo tempted to buy it before common sense kicked in.

Not great when you're selling but great if you're buying a cheap good club bike.

As a GPZ 'enthusiast' and without inspecting your bike I would estimate $1500 and that's not considering it's not red and no original pipes.

I have seen Andys bike and its pretty much mint for its age and at under $3000 this I think gives you your answer he is pretty spot on
