Front sprocket removal rattle gun !!!!

Postby Goggles5122 » Sun Sep 11, 2016 2:07 pm

Soooo made a bit of a boo boo today guys... big night last night and recovering today with a hell of a hangover. Anyways i have an 06 zx10r which im putting a new chain and sprocket kit on.
The chain and rear sprocket were already removed and unfortunately no longer available so without thinking i put it in first and rattle gunned it.
4-5 secs and it loosened, didnt free spin so shouldnt have stripped a gear. Dont have the new chain/sprockets yet either so couldnt chuck the new chain on to use the brake in nuetral.
My question is what are the chances i have damaged something?

If I remember correctly on my ZX6R the front sprocket nut was not held too tight, it's simply secured by that bent washer/stopper.

So hopefully your rattle gun would not have put too much pressure on the gearing mechanism.

I'd install the new chain and rear sprocket to get the bugger off. Some of them are amazingly tight. Didn't think I'd get the front one off my ER6N....
