A plan ...

After starting the new job in South Melbourne and commuting for a few months on a motorbike I found out that it's really not a good idea 1) The back hurts with 2-hrs/day commute 2) It's dangerous as I had been hit by a car yet again.
That leaves my R6 gathering dust in the garage and I don't ride enough to justify $700/yr rego with my current financial situation as it is now an unnecessary luxury.
I still want to have a bike, but I've been thinking to just get a classic bike (25+ yrs old) and club rego. I heard that you'd only pay $65/year. And if I can ride it once a month that's what I do these days anyway
. Also nowadays I enjoy riding for the scenery/coffee more than giving heaps on every corner
So for a year I'd spend $65 rego + $80 insurance + club membership cost (how much do you think?)
Is this a sound plan? I've looked at bikesales and can buy something 'decent' for around $5k. Something like CB750 or XS1100. A Z1 unfortunately still demands $9k+
