What you stumble onto.

General Discussion

What you stumble onto.

Postby macca9540 » Sat Dec 06, 2014 6:39 am

I was working at a house on Friday and saw a collection of 6 or so bikes in the garage, mostly Ducati's including a round case 750. I asked about the ones under their covers and was shown a mint, bog stock, 1976 Z900, totally original, Australian delivery with 10,500 odd klms on it. He is the second owner.
I nearly spotted my undies on the spot. He told me he was thinking of selling it for $25,000.
My question is, is this a reasonable price for this Zed. I know they fetch good money but it seems a tad high to me. Just wondering what you guys think?

Something is worth what someone is willing to pay for it (unless you have a Gos, then he will know what it's worth)

Pretty much what I was thinking. Now if it was a Jaffa, that's a different story.

That my friend is a very good question.

A Gos is a mythical being spawned from the 4th dimension, gifted by the motorcycle gods with encyclopaedic knowledge of all things Kawasaki. He is also particularly gifted in the fine arts of checker plate, shoe-horning, concreting, carb work, doughnut abuse, and 'getting it done by Christmas' amongst many other superb and endearing qualities.

why thankyou Tim for the excellent eulogy   and everyone else for the massive belly-laugh which just rumbled across to Parliament House.......

yep. 25 large for a 76'er is a crock. These are the most common of the 9's, blessed with some improvements over the earlier models - but lumbered with all the baggage of being produced in the hundreds of thousands.......

They will never have the collectability of the Z1, the Z1A or the Z1B. Having said that - they are still a great bike. $15k tops but I reckon inside 10 years, punters will be lashing out 20k on these - at that point, a good z1 will be getting well over 30 large anyway ;)

Adios my minions !!
