While not a GoPro, I have been wearing the Replay XD 1080 Mini...and haven't had any problems. Been through an RBT, been followed with it on and pulled up in an adjacent lane to an highway patrol.

The mounting pad uses a 3M adhesive pad. It is pretty small in comparison with a GoPro, so probably why. Although this article which mentions helmet cameras in SA, seems that SAPOL are pretty relaxed by them.

No problems. Great article. Things are looking good for us SA riders. I particularly like this part:
