HARRASSMENT!!!

welp, it's been good for the past year or so, but it seems to be starting up again......

"red and blues" in the mirrors, WOOO-WOOO (however you type in siren noises?) and I pull over.....

uh, what seems to be the problem sir?
THIS YOUR BIKE?
uh,yes sir. (in scared timid voice, cuz i'm like WTF?)
LICENSE REGISTRATION!
yes sir, uh, why? (trying to assertain what is going on?)
*looks over bike piece by piece* (this is a bike cop) and for the record (ppl who know my bike) he didn't like the angle of my license plate... but no biggy, as it isn't "unreadable from 20 Meters"
FINE. ON YOUR WAY!

no explanation. no apology for wasting my time. no ticket (thank christ, cuz i've been booked for NOTHING before) just RUDE and MEAN
-made me cry- (well, not really but my heart was pounding a million miles an hour)

W T F ?

Jase?? why?? did the pig master tell his porkers to go harrass bike riders again? are there bikes being stolen in the area? i would of atleast liked an explanation!! i asked, he just looked at me like i wasn't worth talking to!!

ASSHOLE COP... i was late to class thanks to you and "flustered" for rest of the day... cheers you sorry excuse for bacon! (cuz i couldn't say this to his smug face!) thanks to you, another public, law-abiding (most of the time), yadda yadda.... HATES your kind even more!! how does this help cop/public relations? and i am a member of CSP (Community Supporting Police... always giving to help the force and their families when needed... not yours BUCKO!)

sorry Jase (and other good guys doing their job correctly)
rant over

Marty, in this country police can pull you over or stop you in the street for no reason whatsoever so just grin and bear it. Never use to be this way a few decades ago 8) By law you have to give proof of name and address when asked by a member. I usually start writing down their number and name just for giggles, makes them think about why they pulled me over as they don't like that.

Probably his way of saying hello and checking your licence....and we know how much you like doin the big wheelies on the way to uni.

They will pull over anything for a look, had a look at me a month ago coming home from bretts at 1am minding my own buisnes at the speed limit, thats life i guess. :D
If I rode my bike at the speed of light, what would happen when I switched on its headlights?

Maybe just random check for stolen bikes ? Need to support them stopping the bikes I reckon?

yeah... i guess he was just doing his job and all, and I knew that, BUT really, can't he be sensible/nice about it?
i mean, obviously, he's on a bike, i'm on a bike... we got that in common. once he saw that it was my bike, couldn't he lighten up and just be civil (as i was treating him?)
oh well, made for good small talk at dinner anyway....
oh and for the record i don't wheelie in town... much

Most coppers don't give a shit. Hell, I even offer to write it down for them!!
The classic is always the dipshit who wants your name and number and then wants to use your pen... uh, No!

Marty, the others are right. In Aus a cop can stop you simply to check your licence. Which I personally think is fair enough. The number of tossers out there riding bikes without a licence is staggering and only serve to give the rest of us a bad name. You wanna ride a bike? Go and get a licence like the rest of us.

Other than that, there may be some corporate directive to conduct checks on bikes. There may have been a spate of stolen bikes. Maybe there has been an increase in the number of complaints with regards to the way bikes are being ridden in that area or an increase in the number of motorcycle crashes. Did you ask the copper why he stopped you?

As for the total unfriendliness thing.. who knows. Sometimes it's just easier that way. As soon as you start being friendly with someone, it makes it a million times harder to write them a ticket or defect them. It's easier in the first place just to be a cunt.

My dad was a cop for 30+ years and I learnt to respect the uniform, not necessarily the bloke wearing it. So I give police the respect they deserve regardless of whether I agree with them or not. Usually I find that they treat me well.

Ive had one officer that tried to provoke me into an argument one night by saying it was cold (weather wise), to which I replied that it wasnt too bad, to which he stated sternly 'but it IS cold" while giving me the cold hard stare. So I just said "yep, youre right, it is cold" Then I rode off up the road calling him every name under the sun to myself because I thought he was a wanker. I reckon he was just trying to see how I reacted to hisn authority or something. I couldnt give a shit what the temperature was! :D

Dont let it get to you Yankee. Just accept that some people are arseholes regardless of what job they do!

Since I moved to Forest Hill and have been commuting on the freeway I've been stopped numerous times for license and rego checks.
The coppers have always been very friendly though.

Hey Yankee, Remember when you were telling me about how you used to get pulled over all the time, and then it hasn't happened in a long time? You then said "touch wood" and looked around for some wood to touch, but couldn't find any. If I was weak-minded enough to be superstitous, I would say that is your problem right there.

I've noticed a lot of cop cars/bikes on the Warrego lately...I reckon they are spending the last of their yearly budget to ensure they get the same funding next year.
