NW200

Postby TopCat » Sat May 21, 2005 9:49 pm

Just saw the results of the first superbike race from the North West 200 in Northern Ireland. Michael Rutter won on a CBR-RR at an average speed of 122 mph (200km/hr) and clocked 194 mph (320km/hr) through the speed trap. All this on ordinary roads, most on 2 lane country roads. You gotta see it to believe it. Brilliant!!! :D The NW is seen as the prelim to the TT for the riders, gets the apropriate juices flowing  . The most fancied Kwaka rider, Ryan FARQUHAR, pulled out on lap 4 ..... pity as he is good value and keeps the Kwaka fkag flying  .

Second race was declared wet. Average race speed was 112 mph (about 185 km/hr). Didn't see the speed through the trap but it would be close to the 1st race. NZ Bruce Anstey won on a Suzi. I've seen him on some DVDs and he is one of the smoothest riders in road racing.

Anyone fancy a good read about the NW200 there is a book avaliable called POWER AND THE GLORY, THE HISTORY OF THE NORTH WEST 200, i saw it in my local Angus and Robertson bookshop the other day,it was $60 though, but if you like your bike books like me it's 60 bucks well spent.i did a search on Amazon but nothing came up.

Hi guys i,m in singapore airport on my way back from NW 200 it was unreal, this is my home race just 35 miles from my home town, just moved to oz 2 years ago, I was chatting to Bruce and his team mate adrain the day they got there new gxser 1000 there were setting them up at a little circuit beside my wife,s parents they are great blokes and very down to earth Bruce did well to win the last race he had only ridden the bike for the first time a week earlier,

Ryan won his race on the 05 zx6r he was racing for friends of mine MC adoo team before moving this year a very good smooth rider and Kawasaki mad,

If any of you ever get the chance get over there for the NW 200 its not to be missed this is real racing not for the fant hearted, Rutter was clocked at 201 mph last year and only the wet weather stopped the bikes betting that record this year,

Must go calling flight
Jas
