Blue aren't brighter even though they appear brighter. That coating cuts the light output as halogens don't make a lot of blue.

If you go up in wattage, make sure they wont overload the OEM wiring or melt the headlight lens.

well i just learnt a lot!

"Informal tests by the US Department of Transportation's Office of Crash Avoidance Standards found that a standard-wattage 9004-type blue headlamp bulb reduced the road lighting ability of a standard headlamp by 67%, and increased glare for oncoming and preceeding trafic by 33%."

less light coming out, but because it's blue (pupil doesn't close) it looks brighter. increased glare for oncoming doesn't sound like such a bad thing to have on a bike tho... it's weird hey, there's less light coming out but you see more of it.

philips 'vision plus' seem to be the recommended upgrade for brighter "white" light
