hope you weren't unruly on the way home

Bikies booked after MotoGP

Posted Tue Oct 7, 2008 12:10pm AEDT

Victoria Police have booked more than 200 motorcycles for speeding on their way home from the Phillip Island MotoGP.

Senior Sergeant David Carey, from the East Gippsland Traffic Management Unit says most of the bookings were for speeds between 120 and 140 kilometres an hour.

He says the riders appear to behave themselves as they leave Phillip Island, but become more unruly as they head east.

Senior Sergeant Carey says many riders will be disappointed in five or six weeks when they get their fines in the mail.

"They overtake on the left of the cars or they ride up to the back of the cars and the people get frightened and the people move over," he said.

"I'm sure they know there's not enough police."

There are some things nobody needs in this world, and a bright-red, hunch-back, warp-speed 900cc cafe racer is one of them - but I want one anyway, and on some days I actually believe I need one. Hunter S. Thompson.

Is that all? Out of how many bikes? I'm impressed.

Damn right there's not enough! I was in an overtaking lane just out of Bairnsdale overtaking 2 cars when some numbnuts in a hilux ute coming the other way pulled out from behind a truck over double solids, saw me so started to move back then thought "Fuck em"and came back out into my lane! I kept my place waiting for him to move but NO wasn't going to happen! I gave him the bird as I ducked between the 2 cars but my mate Dan behind me actually had to share the lane with the car he was overtaking (luckily it saw what was happening and made room for him) or he would have had a head on with the Ute! and of course no Police around to witness it! but if I'd done something truly stupid like exceed the speed limit by 5km I'm sure they would have been there!
