Pillion Comfort...

Postby aardvark » Fri May 21, 2004 5:41 pm

I'm trying to talk the missus into letting me upgrade from the ZX6. She isn't really convinced, but well.... I figure if I go the "pillion comfort" route, I may be in with half a chance.

I went and looked at a ZX12 yesterday. As comfortable as the 12 is for the rider, it doesn't look so flash for the pillion. The rear seat is perched way up in the air, and I can't see her being happy on it at all.

I looked at the ZZR1200... I actually like these. (Sad, I know.) But the rear end.. well, it's gotta be the ugliest rear-end in the business.

I don't want to go to a Busa or a Blackbird, because they have the wrong logo on the tank.

So, what do the ZX9 owners think of the comfort of the rear seat for passengers, and how does it compare with the ZX6?

Jas
I like the zx12r as well  But I dont think the pillion is a selling point !
The zx9r aint going to be too much different from your zx6r.
Daves misses use to be on the back of his zx7r all the way from Sydney to Phillip Island and I heard no complaints, not from Dave anyway, but they did spend the whole 4 days in the Pub recovering

Just do what I do when I want to upgrade put your foot down ! Tell the
misses that you'll buy what ever you want and then SUCK UP TO THEM
TELL THEM HOW MUCH YOU LOVE THEM AND YOU"LL DO ANYTHING THEY
WANT FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE ! hahahahahhaha

Good luck mate but stick to a sports bike.
Dont go buying one of those Moto gonzo's !! hahahaha

Jason,
If you wear ear plugs mate who gives a fark

Actually mate the set up is very similar to the zx6, not as comfy as the old zzr but then again it goes faster so she won't be up there long

I used to bitch on the back of an old CBR1000, with its big, very padded seat. Used to be fine, cept for really long runs. Made it nearly all the way to Warnambool once with about two stretch stops. However, with 20 minutes left to go on the trip I was nearly in tears, cause the numbness had turned to pain. Made him stop (yet again) before we finally arrived.

I reckon any seat for any long time is not gonna be fun. But I also reckon seats with less padding are gonna be worse.

Get whatever bike you want, just stop more often is all I can suggest :)

I luv watchin guys ridin bikes like r1's with their missus on back sittin on that little perch they call a rear seat. It just looks uncomfortable.

However its a good view when you follow them  .
