I feel ya bris, i was aware of the "robber" rules and it annoyed me to take off my helmet especially on the cold days.

Birdman wrote:when really cold i do tend to leave the helmet on too and as you did walk in with cash or CC in hand so they can see im going to pay, have only ever had one servo tell me he wouldnt serve me until i took my helmet off as he quite rudely pointed to the sticker beside the front door, so i took my helmet off to reveal a full face balaclava ;-) before he could say anything i kindly told him not to ask me to remove it as there was no sticker saying balaclava's must be removed he he he he
he just processed the CC then and i was on my way :D :D

Birdman has the right idea.....

This is my standard answer when asked to take off my lid - " Mate, I am wearing a balaclava underneath, would you feel more comfortable if I walked in wearing that ?? ..." Basically I don't like being told what to wear or otherwise when walking into a counter to pay for juice. So I try to always fill up at the local servo, they know me and the bike(s) well, shit I am on a first name basis with a couple of the counter guys, they have *never* asked me to take the lid off....

Its *always* a problem at Shell servos, same as sitting on your bike to fill up (which I always do when just booting around the burbs - on a long run, the lid comes off the head, and the arse comes off the seat, so generally get little to no grief on long runs...

Getting you off the bike while filling is a separate issue. Most likely OH&S. Like if it caught fire with you on it it could be bad for their insurance. So they can enforce that you comply under their duty of care...

Anyhow, back to Partnership and the Corporations Act. I know how to live it up!

this is really weird as just a few weeks back i filled up and payed for fuel and didnt bother to take my helmet off, first time i have done it, i was up the old road at the mobil and the cashies didnt have a problem, must be common occurance but i did think to myself if the cashier thougt i was going to rob the joint....

Tried it again at my local servo, no issues again, but maybe the cashier just knows my bike?

but are you wearing one of these ? ...

The guys behind the counter at the mobile have a high number of two wheel customers using their pumps. Its really up to each individual and petty station whether or not to enforce such security measures and I guess they're accustomed to the Motorcyclists clientele and there's usually quite a number of peeps around when filling up during the busy periods ie on weekends

Bingo, give the boy a cigar, just don't light up at a service station.
