Just found out hat Gypsies originate from India and that they started to spread across Europe since AD800.

A Irish workmate of mine said to me on Friday that the movie "Snatch" portrays the gypsies rather well. A quick look for the hell of it, and yeah, they weren't popular at all.

Getting back on topic, my mum is 1/2 Slovenian and until this thread i had no idea how the hell to say akrapovic :-)

I didn't actually refer to Yugo refugees as gypsies, please note that aardvark said his family were from Yugo and gypsie. Thusly:

aardvark wrote:My Dad's side of the family come from a line of Yugo gypsies

It was a legitimate question on my behalf to ask if they were refugees, as I know exactly how the Germans treated such people at that time. I find it interesting that such people chose Australia as their destination, which is far removed from anything they had ever experienced. Says something about their character to me. Nevermind. It was idle curiosity on my behalf...

Felix, don't mind me. I certainly wasn't offended.

I think my grandmothers parents (or maybe it was their parents?) came from Yugoslavia to Australia. Somewhere back in time their relatives where poor gypsies that roamed the country side. Stuffed if I know. Like I said, I couldn't really care less.

None of my living rellies speak serbo-croatian, and the only trace of our descendancy is the oily skin, the hooked nose and the way we carry on at family get togethers.

I agree on that one. I've had two pairs of Alpinestars, one dirt and one road and they've both fallen apart in short time. Sidi's much better and for dirt boots Gaernes are sensational.

Now what was this originally about....... R1's, how to pronounce Akrapovic (which I still don't get), Yugoslavian Gypsies, cured pig meat (and how to pronounce it), Boots ?

Bloody amazing how a thread starts to run all over the place . Makes fasinating reading .
Dont care how you pronounce Akrapovic , if Ive got the cash and want one I will say it how I firking well like , or shall we try another shop .
Cant stand staff in any type of shop trying to give me an education in stuff i'm not interested in . Advice about the product is different and welcome . Like how some boots are better suited to wider feet than some other brands , thats why I got stars not the ones I liked the look of better , Sidi s .
Ummmm let me see

Early R1 is of course a classic, moved the game up a big notch from where Honda put it with the first blade....

Just think people, if it wasn't for the R1 you wouldn't have the ZX10R :D

If I was in the market for an R1 though I'd go for one of those silver 2002 models.

Nova, what are you saying? Take a good look at yourself man. Now take yourself and your pistol into the library and do the right thing.

By the time I got to the end of this page I had forgotten what the original thread was about but I do now know that I pronounce Akrapovich wrong which is just as well I have a Yoshi, that some peeps here have parents who may or may not be refugees, Alpine stars suck while Sidi don't and that a great way to kill cats is to be curious. Sweet!!! Did msomeone say something about an R1

This is what happens when you start a R1 thread... so stick with the kwakas and it will all be good.
