Well, I'm about to test the system.

General Discussion

Well today I take back every generalisation I've made about Government employees, particularly those of Queensland Transport. As a group they do indeed suck, but I just had the vehicle inspection done by two guys who were knowledgeable, intelligent, friendly and incredibly helpful - so there must be a few real people working for them.

They spent 45 minutes both looking over the bike and talking me through the best way to approach the dispute (this is what they deal with all day every day), offered plenty of advice and volunteered an extension on clearing the defect notice if I haven't had the issue resolved by the time the 28 days is up. I was also given a business card with the inspector's direct line and mobile number in case I have any problems or need any further advice.

I will be approaching the workshop again this afternoon armed with the defect notice and hopefully will have some joy. Failing that the opinion of both the QLD Transport inspector AND the person I spoke to at the Small Claims Tribunal is that I will get all my costs back.

I don't know that having a defect notice issued on the bike is necessarily a positive thing :? but in the grand scheme of things it's an important step. They even dodgied the form slightly - instead of entering "Complaint" as the reason for the vehicle inspection & defect they entered "Road Patrol" so the workshop won't know it came about as a result of my complaint.

I will keep updating the thread :)

Okay, with the help of the mighty RG the bike was dropped off at the mechanic this morning to get the defect cleared and a new Safety Certificate issued.

Unfortunately forgot to take the defect notice with me so that they could clear it, but I gave him a list of the stuff and will either take it down tomorrow morning or else mail it to him (they're on the Gold Coast).

Fingers crossed!

I'm glad I went to that trouble this morning, just got a phone call and they basically flipped me the bird, saying it's my problem not theirs. They acknowledged each of the problems but still said they won't fix them, so I don't even understand what the point was of them asking me to take it in if they're not doing anything about it.

I have been back in touch with my QLD Transport guy, Small Claims it is! :?

Lesson in psychology, Shift-san.

If they are the type of people who are willing to write a dodgy roadworthy, then they are about as trust worthy as a hasn't been fed for 6 days rotweiler is for baby sitting.

Gold Coast is where a lot of dodgy characters reside. Never send money to a business with a post box in SouthPort

Hey I resemble that comment! I'm not too "shifty" though ;)
