I spent most of my life in Wangaratta, small town of 16,000 people in Victoria, where everybody know everybody.
I also owned a RX4 coupe, bright red and noisy, I used to hang around the main street, do laps etc., and the cops would usually tell me to go home once a week. But they didn't hassle me, even when I deliberately went throught the breath testing setup ten times in a row

after the tenth they said go home
One time I had a VE wagon, it had an expired canary on it (vic's will kow what i'm talking about), way too low, and I was still driving it. The cop pulled me up, asked for my licence (i'd left it at home) and then one of my mates got out of the car and started being a smartass to the cop. I told my mate to shut up and hop back in the car (he did) and the cop let me off because I did that..

He said otherwise i would have walked home
One night the lights failed on my car, and I asked the police for an escort home, they complied
They caught me drag racing in the main street, I went and hid, they found me and I still wasnt' booked.
There was only one time a cop tried to give me a hard time and that was when the car had broken down, it was jump started and I was on my way to the electicians when they pulled me over. I ran back to tell them that I couldn't turn it off and if they wanted they could follow me to the electricians, they did and when we got there and i'd turned it off this cop asked me pop the bonnet. I did and then he asked me where my aircleaner was.. mind you bright red foam filters are hard to miss.. I was like what??? Then he tried to tell me they were illegal and I said no they're not.. then he tried to get me on a few other things but it was pretty obvious I knew heaps more than he did so it ended up quite funny as he ended up walking backwards away from me trying to save face while still asking stupid questions... then got in his car and bolted
Oh and they time they accused me of doing burnouts in my 1300cc LJ Torana.. I handed them the keys and said if you can get this thing to do burnouts you can book me
