You can both bite my shiny arse !!!! Yes, I am fairly motivated for this gig, so it should be up and running by Xmas. Unbelievers will have their genitals devoured by Satan !!

The idea of a quad-cam Toyota motor is something that never crossed my mind  - it may have some merit......the only downside is the probably lack of info out there about a conversion such as this. I received an email today from the bloke who runs Jaguar Specialities in the US - talk about friendly and comprehensive !!! They leave *no* stone unturned with the kits they sell. Nothing at all. This appeals to me greatly, as it really does almost mean a plug'n'play conversion.

Rob - cheers for the tips about the early-model LS1's mate :kuda: - I have seen some veiled references to oil problems with these motors on the LS1 forum, but have not really started pushing hard there for facts and figures. At this stage, getting the conversion kit (with all the suspension and steering upgrades included) is the #1 priority, as all this is a lot easier to fit up without an engine in the way. I can take a bit more time to make a good selection on the donor motor......and not just buy the first thing thats listed on ebay.....(although its pretty tempting... ;) )

In the words of Big Kev.......I'm fuckin' EXCITED !!!

Hmmm. Now you'll be needing a nice lumpy cam, a bigger fuel pump and injectors, a new computer and some nice high flow heads. Then we'll strap on a under bonnet blower to finish off.

Only problem with the 1UZ is the width of the thing. Overhead cams on a 90 degree V makes for a wiiiiide engine. The Chev's a much easier fit (says the Ford owner). Pushrods actually make a lot of sense in terms of packaging. Want more grunt? A pair of turbos or an underbonnet blower'd fix that quick smart.

If you need to check engine no's Gos so that you get a donk out of a VY or later let me know and i'll check the young blokes VY. I had a VX and had every problem imagineable, Oil burning, Oil pump, piston slap etc. My VY was spot on as is Chris's.

its all good gleno,

Holdens fix for the piston slap and oils consumption was to fit forged pistons

they didnt expand and contract as much. so the cold tollerences were a lot finer.

maybe gos will just have to stick a set of forgies in there. and while his there may as well stick a stroker crank and some headwork. bugger :kuda:

cheers Glen ! :kuda: thats some more tips about avoiding the early ones.......have heard this from a few sources over the last few days....

In some wallet-busting late news...........I can get a brand-spankers crate LS1 (VZ) from a mob in Vic for $4850........... :shock - thats a fly-by-wire jobbie as well....... Giving it some serious consideration, especially as a 4L60 box can be had for <$500 from just about anywhere......

I dropped past my upholsterer today - one of the boys there has built a few good street machines in his day - he reckons that a 6-speed Tiptronic would be the ducks guts.....except they also require the use of a seperate $2000 ECU !!! Just for the f'n box !!!! FFS, its hydraulics all the way methinks.....

We were looking at a reco 2L motor and gearbox, with carbies and exhaust fitted for about 6K. Would be cheaper, more powerful and get better economy from a Subaru boxer motor. Just needs an adaptor plate on the gearbox and somewhere to fit radiators and oil coolers.

6k is a lot of cash if it is an off the shelf reco, iv'e been told that 2 litre core engines are getting harder to find. there are old
shitters sitting in the dirt for sale from $500 ^.

subaru boxers are good engines, had an 84 model, ran great except, i kept destroying modules at $400 a pop $200 aftermarket- along time ago. unique conversion if you go in that direction.

I got about $1500 off, Known and gave the m/anic alot of work for alot of years. - vw in the veins. horizontal 4s' good stuff.
