If you treat your car as your own 'sphere of concern' and, through ignorance or arogance, disregard those outside your sphere you deserve the contempt of every motorcyclist and every motorist to have ever crossed your path. If you take this further and injure sombody through your lack of concern you deserve the wrath of every motorcyclist, motorist and the community in general.
If, like most people, be they motorcyclists or not, you take to the road in your car equipped with a good attitude and a modicum of respect for other road users but are unfortunate enough to be involved in an accident, any sort of accident, you do not deserve our contempt or wrath, but instead our sympathy.
To err is human, and frankly everybody will make mistakes on occasions. Sometimes these mistakes will go unnoticed, sometimes they will result in near-misses, and sometimes they will result in accidents. I think we need to see beyond the simple fact that an accident occured and consider the attitudes of those involved.
And just think, I've typed all that dribble wth my left hand
