If you are worried about heat at a spot then get him to tack another piece of metal with a 5mm air gap to the exhaust in that area. It is the best and most effective way of shielding. Can be fiddly getting it the right shape though.

- I did finally get the correct high-pressure power steering hose after an eternity of being dicked around, so that is a bit of progress......Next step is trial fitting of the motor/gearbox so that the final dimensions of the high-pressure hose can be determined.
