bit more progress with the old girl over the weekend.....
Got great pedal pressure with the brakes - eventually - after the reconditioned m/c was fitted. Used some high-end Castrol brake fluid and started at the back (as you do) - with the inboard rear discs, getting to the bleed nipples was pretty straightforward. Daughter #2 in the pilot seat, doing the pump-pedal-and-hold routine - the rear brakes bled up quickly. Moved to the front passenger side - all things looking good. pedal pressure now impressive...........get to drivers side front - and no fluid at all coming from bleed nipple ?
Remove nipple entirely - nothing. Remove small section of steel brake tube from union with rubber hose - still nothing. Get the shits, go to major brake-line split-fitting in engine bay - undo completely - use compressed air to blow rubber line clean - still nothing !!! The air-duster kept popping off the fitting - which indicated a completely blocked rubber section.........
So its time for a bit of a prod with some wire. Only get in the rubber line maybe 50mm - and complete stop. Gave it some loving - and eventually it cleared - with some WD40 and more compressed air. Not sure why only 1 brake line was blocked like that - but it did mean I got up close and personal with the massive 4-spot brake calipers fitted to these rigs

FMD they are fucking massive - each piston is around 45mm diameter - the overall length of the calipers is 250mm .....no wonder they didn't bother upgrading the brakes when the V12 was fitted.
I will probably upgrade both the front rubber sections with braided, once rego has been sorted.
The last job left for the gearbox/motor being bolted together, was the flywheel to torque converter bolts. These went in this arvo, so that pretty much completes the motor/box setup. I also fitted the new starter motor. Just waiting on the power steering hoses now.......next job will be to fit up the new sump. Its a shame this will be almost completely hidden from view once the motor is installed.......its a really nice piece of work.
