Drink driving/riding is a lot worse than speeding when sober.

Agree Tanya. Rode once after 3 beers (still under the limit) and said to myself never again. It is amazing how much control and focus you lose.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your license Shifty. Walking sucks ass. Have to agree with others though, the timing is ironic with the comments.
BTW, i don't think anyone agree's that 200 in a 60 zone is a good idea. It was more your harshness.

As Tanya said, see if you can get a day license for work. Worth the question? Hope it works out champ.

Guilty as charged, I use to think 2 or 3 or 4 drinks was ok but I don't do that anymore, too much to worry about on the road without limiting my ability through alcohol. 8) This includes ride days as well when we stop for lunch, it effects others on the ride and promotes a bad influence to new comers.

The restricted license option gives you full usage of your license but only gives you two points for a 12 month period. I'm sure that most people here will agree it's all too easy to find yourself in a position where you could lose two points on a 900cc bike, even if you are pedantic about watching the speedo... so I'm not convinced this is the right way to go. It would be great if I could manage it, but I will be kicking myself no end if I lose it for 6 months instead. A gambling man needs to know when to stop... :(

BTW, I don't think anyone agrees that 200 in a 60 zone is a good idea. It was more your harshness.

Why not have the balls to say what you think, and clearly? I have more of a problem with people who tiptoe around the truth rather than saying what they really believe - I much prefer to be offended than wrapped in cotton wool. The next time someone posts up about doing 200km/h in a 60km/h zone I will post exactly the same thing.... sorry in advance if it offends.

[quote]I'm sorry to hear that shifty, I've ridden with you and can vouch you're not an idiot on the roads.[quote]

Hah thanks Tanya - if I remember I was bitching on the Tenterfield ride that everyone went so fast through the towns! At least I'm true to form :)

With experiance you will learn to look out for the law or in my case drive something real slow for a work vehicle and ride well out of town before misbehaving.

3 months wont hurt you too much i have done a few of those when i was younger cant say i enjoyed it but hey "you do the crime you do the time"
even if you are a victom of blatent revenue raising.

I just love the ones that they put down a road you could land a jumbo on at 2 am on a wednesday morning so they can get you for 12km over.

or the ones they used to have with the man sitting behind the box at the same time in the morning in the long grass...was tempted to throw in a match.

Bad luck i supose just dont get done for driving/riding under suspension that can get expensive. :( :(
If I rode my bike at the speed of light, what would happen when I switched on its headlights?

Well put it this way, no matter what speed you are doing, how much you have drunk if you stack and die it will cost the public close to a Million bucks after all said an done for each death on the road, same goes for the inexperienced. Speeding is no different from Drink driving and infact speed kills more people than D and D and whats worse is mobile phones while driving for causing incedents  that is the ultimate in no control of a vehicle, then there is unlicenced or driving influenced by drugs of illegal or drugs of perscription status, all who behave in such manner are at risk and remember we the public have to pay to scrape you off the road no matter what, so all ar bad and is left to the individual to regulate on them selves. If everyone thought of all thee out of control people on our roads we would never drive/ride, I personally would rather swim amoungst sharks than mix it with cockhead inexperienced motorists in peak hour.
To be a conformist to the driving laws one would have to be a robot, no one is perfect and I for one is very guilty at times for using vacant public roads as a race track, if we were so responsible why do we all buy bikes capable of such high speeds and acceleration? Coz it is human nature to want speed and power, not to mention the feeling of freedom.

Ha Ha if all else fails dynamite the stationary cameras, must be near ireland somwhere i could just imagine paddy making his way home from the pub and stopping at a camera on the way home to show it whos boss. qleft1.gif

I have never been done by a red light camera i stop for red lights and have only been done once by a speed camera for 1 point so i dont mind them but putting stationary cameras all over the place willy nilly would be a infringment on my civil rights  that might be anonther country.

I wouldnt encourage this sort of behavior but hey it looks like fun where do i get the dynamite :D
